Tennessee Titans QB Jake Locker rare to debut start vs Miami Dolphins – NFL News
Coach Mike Munchak has warily sounded positive about participation of quarterback Jake Locker on the starting line in Tennessee Titans’ next game against the Miami Dolphins provided the player does not suffer a setback during remaining couple of days.
Jake has past couple of games due to an injured shoulder and it is not clear if he is going to be placed straight on the starting line by the team, because other quarterback Matt Hasselbeck took snaps as well during team practice on Wednesday.
According to the coach, they will see how Jake responds to the situation by the weekend and his health and fitness should determine his chances.
"If we think he's ready to go, he'll play. I mean we'll see how he feels after today and how he does tomorrow in third-down stuff and just get a feel for just kind of the whole dynamic there. If he's ready, we'll give him a chance to start."
Meanwhile, the player himself has spoken high of his fitness, saying he did his best to stay in shape physically and that it should not be a problem for him such to perform as a leader.
He said:
"Physically I was able to keep myself in shape, and I was able to throw for most of it Just kind of making sure that you're in the mental grind of it but, you know, I tried to do that as well as I could, too. I prepared as if I was playing.”
Locker won the starting position from Hasselbeck during a competition in the training and preseason phase, but unfortunately suffered a shoulder injury in the very first game. He played next game and was fully fit but again suffered the same injury later
in the season.
The Titans in the meantime are going through one of worst seasons and this is something that has irked their owner as well, who has recently issued a stark warning to officials from the front office including coaches that they will be evaluated for their
performance.
