Tennessee Titans RB Chris Johnson 8th league player to run 1,000 in each of five seasons – NFL News
Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson has become only eighth player in the history of the National Football League (NFL) to have run for a 1,000 and more yards in five consecutive seasons and the player recognises it as a great achievement to be amongst
the group of elite rushers.
He averages 4.7 yards on 223 carries for a total of 1,037 yards this season. Overall, he is at seventh position in the league this year, while still has three more games to go in the regular season, which will end his present season run given the Titans
with only four wins are way out of the playoff contention.
The RB says of the record:
"I'm very proud of that because you know in this game of football you have a lot of ups and downs no matter what type of player you are. You know you're going to have good moments and you're going to have your down moments. It's all about how you bring it
back and how you overcome those down moments.”
He added:
"It's real special to be amongst some elite company like those guys or whatever. I've been in the league and to be able to go over a thousand yards each of those years."
Johnson is the only bright spot in the Titans this year, as otherwise the team has proved to be a complete performance disaster. They with only four wins are nowhere near to the last year’s record of 9-7, and with only three more games to go they do not
have a chance to catch up on that, even if they win all three of them.
His teammates and coaches have spoken high of Johnson’s performance, particularly the fact that he has managed to come back very strongly after having made a sluggish start to the season. In fact many commentators questioned his ability to give a sustainable
performance again. He has proved them wrong.
While coach Mike Munchak showed concern that the Titans were inconsistent in their form, he noted the players like Johnson can pull them up together, although it is too late, for this season at least.
