Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak aims to rectify Detroit Lions game mistakes – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans are not pleased with their match-winning performance versus Detroit Lions last Sunday as coach Mike Munchak points out that game tape has now made the players aware of the harsh reality of many mistakes they had committed all along.
Although the coach said he will be working on those mistakes with the players individually and in the team practice, he admitted that the team was lucky to have won the game at the end despite so many mistakes.
The Titans managed to beat the Lions 44-41 in overtime in the third game of the season which also saw the record of scoring five touchdowns of 60 and plus yards by any team in the National Football League (NFL) history.
It was a hard-fought and closely finished game that had kept twisting to both team’s favours. The last quarter alone witnessed score of 46 points after the Titans lost the thumbing lead of 12 points with the score at 21-9 at the end of first half.
Munchak said:
"Reality hits fast when they hit the tape."
He added:
"We have to play 20 more snaps, and all of a sudden all kinds of craziness happens. Luckily we're going to learn from it on the winning side. We've still got a lot of improvement to do.”
The coach aims this midweek practice will help players improve in the areas where they had committed mistakes. Although the official is pleased with performance of quarterback Jake Locker, he stills sees a lot of room for him to develop. He has certainly
bettered his skills in comparison with the previous games but still is not at par with other QBs of his calibre in the league.
It was nevertheless a timely win for the offence leader and also for the coach, as both had been under immense pressure for their choice to leave the situation as it was in spite of the fact that Locker’s performance in the initial two games remained insignificant.
Munchak is still under pressure over the performance of running back Chris Johnson and has been defending him as to be a promising talent and expects him to show a better form in the rest of the season.
