Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak rules out possibility of parting ways with his side – NFL News
Tennessee Titans coach Mike Munchak has played down the hype surrounding his chances of going to Penn State following the news that the college team has targeted him as their potential coaching candidate saying he will not leave the Titans.
Penn State are looking for a replacement to their former coach Joe Paterno, who was fired by his side following a child-s*x scandal, and the side said that their prospective targets included Titans’ coach Munchak.
Munchak however denied that he has been contacted by the side or if such a possibility was on his mind saying he enjoys his job at the Tennessee Titans. He added that he had not reached out to the side for such a role, either.
"They have not contacted me in any way or talked to me about the possibility of working there. I have not reached out to them. I have a job that I enjoy quite a bit."
The coach who said that the Penn State matters most in his life as he went to school there and that is his Alma matter, but wished them well their efforts to find a suitable candidate to be their head coach. He added that he was happy with the job on his
hand.
"I'm sure they're going to find themselves a great coach and if I can help them in any way to do that, obviously I would do that," Munchak said. "I'd love to stay involved with Penn State some way, but I'm very involved with the Titans and I love what I'm
doing."
A day earlier the Tennessee Titans were surprised with the reports that their coach was on the Penn State’s radar as a head coach. It did not serve well into their hopes for a faint wild card chance for playoff this season.
The coach however said that he was very much focused on the job before him that is to back his side to get through to the second round of the NFL. "That's what I'm really thinking about and excited about," Munchak said.
The Titans are playing their last game against the American Football Conference (AFC) south champions the Houston Texans this Sunday. They hope not to only win this game and go for a rematch with them but also see other wild card contestants losing their
game in a way that the situation becomes favourable to the Titans on the overall league’s score card.
The denial from Mike Munchak that he was not going anywhere has come a timely assurance for his side and might play well into their ambitions for a win on the weekend.
