Tennessee Titans defeat Miami Dolphins 37-3 in Week 10 – NFL Recap
Tennessee Titans have given a performance that could change their season as they completely ripped apart Miami Dolphins with a 37-3 win in Week 10 tie on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Sun Life Stadium, Miami, Florida.
Titans (4-6) put up a strong performance on road this time after getting a 20-51 routing by Chicago Bears in Week 9.
For Dolphins (4-5), it was their biggest defeat at home since the 1968 season. They failed to carry on the good performance they had shown against Indianapolis Colts last week.
Titans’ defence showed an astounding response only a week after Titans owner Bud Adam put every member of the franchise on notice. According to the Associated Press, Titans head coach Mike Munchak said:
“This is one we needed badly. We’ve just got to see if we can do that for two, three, four weeks in a row because for us to get back into the conversation for what we want to accomplish this year we have to win a lot of games in a row here.”
The defensive team’s performance was in complete contrast to their dismal run of form in the first half of the season in which they were making strides to break the league record of most points allowed in a season.
They were helped on the way by woeful performance by Dolphins’ offence which looked below par throughout the game. Talking to the media after the game, Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin said:
“We all have to accept responsibility for the performance today. It’s not one person’s fault. It’s a team loss. We win as a team and we lose as a team. A team consists of players and coaches. It’s not a finger-pointing game, but obviously we need to do better.”
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill finished the game with 23 of 39 for 217 yards and threw away three interceptions. Running back Reggie Bush put another lacklustre show as he was limited to four carries for 21 yards.
Titans’ offence completely thrashed Dolphins defence as both running and passing game perforated through the opposing defensive line as well as secondary.
Titans’ offence dominated from the start as they scored two back-to-back touchdowns in the first quarter to reach 14-0.
An interception returned for 49 yards to get a touchdown by Titans linebacker Colin McCarthy took the score to 21-0.
Dolphins then scored their only points of the game with a 40-yard field goal from kicker Dan Carpenter which was soon followed by a field goal from Titans kicker Rob Bironas as first half ended 24-3.
The game soon became one-sided as Titans quarterback Jake Locker scored his second touchdown of the day to take the score to 31-3 at the end of third quarter.
Dolphins’ misery went on and on as Bironas scored two more field goals for Titans to finish the game with a dominating 37-3 score line.
