Tennessee Titans destroy Carolina Panthers 30-3 in week 10 – NFL Recap
Tennessee Titans destroyed the Carolina Panthers as they ran out 30-3 winners in game week 10 of the National Football League. The sold out crowd at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina looked on in disbelief
as the home team collapsed.
Panthers’ rookie quarterback Cam Newton was in for a torrid night as nothing seemed to work for him. The rookie was sacked five times by a Tennessee defence that did not allow him any time on the ball effectively putting a stop
on the Panthers passing game.
Newton was shocked at how the game turned out. Talking to the press, he said, “This is embarrassing, man. This is as poor of a performance as a team as I've ever seen. Poor performance by myself. There's no pointing fingers without
looking at yourself and asking yourself what you could have done better. I know I could have done a lot of things better. It's a reality check, that's what it is."
Marc Mariani opened the scoring for the Titans after collecting Jason Baker’s punt and beating the Panthers defenders running 79 yards to score a brilliant touchdown at 13:56 of the first period. Damian Williams covered 43 yards
to score a touchdown after collecting a short pass from Quarter Back Matt Hasselbeck to make 14-0 for the Titans at 5:45. Williams covered 107 yards during the game. Rob Bironas increased the score to 17-0 for the Titans with a 38 yard field goal in the second
period at 14:53.
The Panthers’ struggle to break their duck finally ended in the third period as Olindo Mare scored a 29 yard field goal to give the Panthers their only points in the entire match with 4 minutes to go. Bironas scored another field
goal with just 35 seconds left in the period from 36 yards to make it 20-3.
Carolina’s evening got worse in the final period with Binoras scoring his third field goal from 49 yards to make it 23-3 and Chris Johnson who put in 130 yards during the game finally put the Panthers out of their misery scoring
the touchdown with a 1 yard run to make it 30-3 for the Titans with 2 minutes of play left.
Panthers’ tight end Greg Olsen gave a damning verdict of his team’s performance. He said, "We didn't do anything right. There isn't one thing that we can hang our hat on. It was just an overall pathetic effort by us."
The Titans are now 5-4 and second in the American Football Conference South Division. The Panthers remain at the bottom of their National Football Conference division with just 2 wins and 7 losses. The Panthers now stand at a two
match losing streak as they visit Detroit next to play the Lions. Titans look to play Atlanta Falcons in week 11 as they visit George Dome.
