Tennessee Titans get extra rest time after saviour Miami Dolphins’ win – NFL News
Tennessee Titans have been allowed some extra time by coach Mike Munchak to rest after their superb win over the Miami Dolphins on past weekend and the coach wants them to come out fully prepared against the Jacksonville Jaguars for their next road game.
It was a remarkable comeback for the Titans and a big relief for coaches and other officials after owner Bud Adams put them on notice to either perform better or face scrutiny. The owner is not pleased with the team (4-5) record and issued a stark warning
to officials to think of ways of putting the team back on winning route.
Coach Mike said:
"It's just something we need, mentally and physically because of what we've been through. I'm glad we won it because we needed it. It will be a lot easier to mentally be more positive when we do come back. I think we will be fine."
After taking the sigh of relief courtesy the Dolphins win the coach put the team through some light work on past Monday and then let them have the entire week as a rest period. The Titans are going to hit the field again on next Monday as preparation to
face the Jags in a road game.
Given the Jags are struggling more than the Titans, the latter have chance to beat the former comprehensively. The Jags have only single win out of the season so far and have collapsed at all positions.
The players were so excited over having the break that they did not even stop for a mandatory team meeting on past Monday afternoon.
Linebacker Akeem Ayers said of the situation:
"It's a long season. We been going 10-plus weeks of just football, a lot of meetings and everything. Just to get a little time off and come back refreshed the last six weeks will be good for us."
It is now a must-win situation for Titans and they must do better to pull off some of difficult victories to stay on the course to playoffs. The coach is optimistic they can do better during rest of the season.
