Tennessee Titans offseason workout: RB Chris Johnson targets higher results this season-NFL News
Tennessee Titans’ running back, Chris Johnson, is said to have reformed himself before coming out into 2012 National Football League (NFL) offseason by shunning his last year’s approach of missing the entire voluntary workout owing to the NFL lockout.
Johnson had showed up on opening day of this year’s workout on Monday, April 23, 2012 and said he intends to participate in the entire program to push forward his ambitious agenda of bouncing back from a dismal performance in the 2011 NFL season.
According to the player, he had started the workout on his own soon after coming out of the previous season and he will be doing more training with his teammates at the camp.
He said:
"Of course, it motivates me and makes me want to do better than last year. I always like to get better and better every year. I feel like I didn't get better last year.”
He added:
“There's a lot of things that go into it, but I'm not the type to make excuses and things like that. Basically, it's just working hard and trying to be better."
Johnson, however, refused to predict his coming NFL season prospects as he said it was too premature to project what he is going to achieve out of the next season.
Meanwhile, other notable players in the offseason program are quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker. Both players are going to compete for the starting role this year.
The controversy on the starting line had hit the Titans’ community last year but the team managers eventually settled down with Hasselbeck on the starting position.
Yet they admitted Locker was not far behind and he fully capitalised on the opportunities he had availed due to absence of Hasselbeck because of injury problems.
Locker replaced Hasselbeck as a starter for a couple of times and his form and performance led to a controversy who should be their number one quarterback, Hasselbeck of Locker.
After many thoughts, Titan’s coach, Mike Munchak, backed Hasselbeck for the starting role. He still admits both players will be competing for the role this season.
