Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams deadly serious in homecoming of QB Peyton Manning-NFL News
The Tennessee Titans are calling for homecoming of the quarterback, Peyton Manning, and their owner, Bud Adams, said he will do whatever it takes to convince the player, who had played college league in Tennessee, to consider the city for his future career
once again.
Adams’ latest remarks confirm earlier reports of Titans being serious about pursuing signing of the player off the free agency market.
Earlier, reported efforts of the management had the fans support who had launched a purpose-driven advertisement campaign online and outdoor.
Now the owner said he would take all necessary measures to bring the four-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) to the city and added that he had already contacted Peyton’s agent, Tom Condon, to inform him of the interest.
He said:
"I want Manning. I'd love to see him in Titan blue after watching him so many years with the Colts. ... I want him. I am ready to do what it takes to get him aboard, and I think he'd be the guy to get us into the playoffs."
Adams disclosed this to a local newspaper, and in the interview he said that besides talking to the player’s agent he has invited the player to visit Titans.
The all of sudden interest from the owner has come despite that the general manager, Ruston Webster, had denied the possibility, saying they were happy with the present star quarterback, Matt Hasselbeck, while their rookie, Jake Locker, who is going to come
back into his second year at the start of next regular season, remains equally impressive.
Bud is said to be clear in his intentions that he wanted Manning at all costs. He said since the player had played the college league in the state, there should not be any problem for him to arrive here for the professional league.
The owner added:
"And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans, and I will be disappointed if it doesn't happen."
It is pertinent to mention that Peyton Manning has become the most talked-about player since the release from the Indianapolis Colts, a week ago. A number of teams have expressed there explicit desires of brining the player home.
Peyton himself has visited a couple of them, the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals, and is likely to meet the managers of the Miami Dolphins, earlier this week.
Now as wished by Titans, he might go to Tennessee as well. The decision in this regard is yet waited as despite mentioning of the agent by Bud Adams, Tom Condon has not confirmed the news of the contacts with the owner.
With nothing even probable as yet, if Manning’s coming to Tennessee happens, it will be a great boost to the team that has missed the playoffs chance straight six times.
The 2011 National Football League (NFL) was the closest they could get to during all those years, and at the end lost to their luck due to unexpected development of the situation on the league’s points table, and the chance going to the Cincinnati Bengals.
