Tennessee Titans owner not giving up on Vince Young despite season ending injury
Rumours have been swirling around Tennessee about the rocky relationship between quarterback Vince Young and head coach Jeff Fisher, but it appears Titans owner Bud Adams believes his town is big enough
for the both of the them as both are under contract until 2011.
"He (Young) is under contract. I wouldn't want to let him go. We are going to pay him a lot of money," Adams was quoted by the
Tennessean as saying. The newspaper also reported that Adams' plans were to honour Fisher's contract as well and that he had spoken to both parties and told them to "get this thing settled."
After seeing a hand specialist on Monday it was determined that Young would need season-ending surgery to repair a flexor tendon in his right thumb. When asked by reporters whether or not Young would want
a second opinion, an apathetic sounding Fisher responded by saying, "He may want to get a second opinion. He may want to get two dozen opinions. Our doctor said for his position, it needs to be fixed."
Young and Fisher have apparently not spoken since Young stormed off after the Titans' 19-16 overtime loss to the Washington Redskins on Sunday 21 November, and Fisher is trying to not let the disgruntled
27-year-old quarterback disturb his focus. "My focus is on this football team. He's not going to play anymore games for us this year because of the injury. We can deal with all that when the season is over."
Fisher also admitted that there was no build up of frustration between the he and Young leading up to the incident last Sunday. "All I've done here since Vince has walked through the door is try to help
him be to the best player he can be and stood behind him and defended him from the get-go so there's no frustration," Fisher said.
