Tennessee Titans performance report till Week 7 – NFL Special Part 2
Titans struggled in their first four games. However, one must have to consider the fact that they faced two of the best teams in the league in that period.
They are facing many problems on both sides of the field, but injury to quarterback Jake Locker looks to be a big loss.
Week 5: Minnesota Vikings
The offence languished once again as Vikings thumped Titans 30-7. Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin made it look extremely easy to go pass a lacklustre Titans defence. Harvin scored one passing and one rushing touchdown.
Backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck started again for injured Locker. He was unable to put a good impression as he was intercepted once and finished with 26 of 43 for 200 yards and a touchdown. Running back Chris Johnson continued his bad run of form with
15 carries for 24 yards.
Week 6: Pittsburgh Steelers
Kicker Rob Bironas rescued Titans again during crunch final moments of the game with a 40-yard field goal to give Titans a 26-23 victory against Pittsburgh Steelers.
Hasselbeck’s touchdown pass with clock standing at 4:19 marked a sensational comeback by Titans. The quarterback finished the game with 25 of 44 for 290 yards.
Johnson also gave a breakout performance after a disappointing start to the season. He carried the ball 19 times for 91 yards.
Bironas ended the game with four field goals. The defence also did well in forcing Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger to commit mistakes.
Week 7: Buffalo Bills
Hasselbeck’s touchdown late in the final quarter pushed through another hard fought victory for Titans with a 35-34 win over Buffalo Bills. Hasselbeck finished with 22 of 33 for 205 yards
Johnson gave his best performance of the season as he covered a massive 195 rushing yards on 18 carries and got two first-quarter touchdowns.
Running back Jamie Harper converted two of his carries into touchdowns as he finished with seven carries for eight yards.
Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was forced by Titans defence to make errors as he turned the ball over twice during the game which included a lost fumble and an interception.
Titans will now have to be consistent through the rest of the season in order to save themselves from a collapse.
