Tennessee Titans regret ruined playoff chance but hopeful of another chance under Munchak – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans if look back at their performance in 2011 they must be regretting ruining of their chances in apparently winnable games that failed them an opportunity for making into playoff this season.
Particularly to note here is their loss in the game against the previously winless Indianapolis Colts. It was first victory for the Colts in 14 games.
Before then the Titans were clearly in the picture for a wild card berth into playoff but later it went too far and depended on their luck to secure their chances.
Still they managed to pull themselves together and went for three straight victories but the scenario on the points table developed to such way that their faint chance became the impossibility.
Inspite of losing the opportunity the side is happy the way it has rebuilt itself with Mike Munchak in charge of the coaching affairs.
"Who would have thought we'd be 9-7?" fullback Ahmard Hall said Monday. "Who would give us a chance to be 9-7? Munch is building something great here, and everybody wants to be a part of that."
The coach has already started pondering over the options with next season in mind with all possibilities of reshuffling and hiring firing. He said that the salary cap of the team allows the management the space for more hiring and keeping maximum players
on board.
"You got a nice little core here, so I think it's something we can build on," Munchak said. "I think that's part of the excitement of selling to the guys that are in this room is that yeah, 9-7 was OK. It wasn't quite good enough this year, but a lot of
good things happened at 9-7 that we're excited about as an organization, as a team and that we can build on."
The Titans finished the season at the score of 9-7 in the overall league’s standing, a far better record from their 6-10 score of a year earlier.
Their last win was against their division rivals the Houston Texans but it was all down to their luck for the last wild card, which they lost.
It was rather a setback for the side that they had gone to stage victories in last three straight games. However, a loss by the New York Jets to New York Giants changed the wild card positions giving an opportunity to the Cincinnati Bengals to qualify for
a place into playoff out of blue.
This was despite that the Bengals lost their final game against the Baltimore Ravens.
