Tennessee Titans replace linebacker, fullback with new hiring Zac Diles & Collin Mooney-NFL News
The Tennessee Titans have consolidated strength of their squad by adding players to defensive and offensive positions, respectively.
Furthermore, they have released a pair of players from those positions to create space on the roster to accommodate the fresh hiring.
Titans have gone for these omissions and additions a couple of days after the 2012 draft, held from April 26 to 28, 2012, where they picked up a number of players in different rounds.
One of the two fresh signings is a fullback from the US Army, Collin Mooney, who will need a permission and release by the forces to play in the National Football League (NFL).
Mooney expects a waiver by the armed forces to join Titans from the regular season. He set a record as the leading rusher of the 2008 season by putting up total 1,339 yards, while playing in the armed forces.
Mooney graduated from West Point College in 2009 and then served three years in the army. He now intends to join the professional league and the signing with Titans has paved the way for him.
Other signing is of veteran linebacker, Zac Diles, who has played the league for five years. He spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts and before that also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The player had spent initial four years of his career at the Houston Texans after joining them as a rookie. He, in total, played 50 games for Texans. His best season was the year 2009 in which he had been entrusted the starting role for as many as 12 games.
Now he will play next season for the Tennessee Titans.
Terms of both players’ deals including value and tenure have not been made public.
Meanwhile, the team has released a pair of players to create space to accommodate the new signings to the roster. The waived off players are fullback, Will Ta'ufo'ou and linebacker, Lawrence Wilson.
The Titans, who were almost through to the playoffs last season, are aiming for a berth into the postseason this year, and have looked at their need at almost all positions to come out into the next season fully prepared.
