Tennessee Titans reshuffle linebacker position with new signee Kevin Malast – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans on Tuesday announced reshuffling of their linebacker position due to injury of their veteran linebacker Barrett Ruud who after being placed on injured reserve (IR) list is seen as unlikely for rest of the current
National Football League (NFL) season.
Under the changes the side said that they had signed linebacker Kevin Malast to replace Ruud from their next game against the winless Indianapolis Colts this Sunday. Malast was signed off the practice squad of the Jacksonville
Jaguars.
Meanwhile the Titans said that they have placed the injured Barrett Ruud on injured reserve list indicating he was least likely to be available for rest of the season.
Ruud had missed four of Titans’s past five games due to a groin injury before being ruled out. He was signed by the Tennessee Titans in one year deal before start of the current NFL season.
He had been replaced by the rookie Colin McCarthy in Texans last game who had performed well at the middle line position.
The new signee Malast had been with the Tennessee Titans at their training camp before commencing of this season. He however was waived off before the reason started. He later joined the Jaguars in their practice squad.
Meanwhile news of Ruud’s placing at IR list comes a day after the Titans announced that they were uncertain about participation of their quarterback Matt Hasselbeck in their next game.
Titans coach Mike Munchak said on Monday that the player had been working hard to recover timely to join them for their next game. He however added that he was likely to be a game-time decision, especially if does not join them
in practice squad.
The Titans are playing their next game to Indianapolis Colts who have not won a single game this season. They stand at 0-13 by losing all 13 games they played.
The tie is crucial for the Titans after their loss to New Orleans Saints on past Sunday. The defeat against the Saints has pushed them a game away in their chances for a playoff berth.
The Houston Texans who are with the Titans in the American Football Conference (AFC) south division have already made it to playoff. The Titans chance for playoff berth was ruined by their loss against the Saints. It is now being
held by the New York Jets at 8-5.
