Tennessee Titans shake up front office, reward managers with promotions – NFL News
Tennessee Titans announced on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, to have shaken up their front office with the promotion of a number of managers to higher positions.
The 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season was a rather successful year for the Titans, with nine wins and seven losses on the league’s points table.
Given the impressive performances the team gave on the field, it was seen less likely for the team management to go for reshuffling in the side at almost all positions, as much as some other teams in the NFL have been in to.
Truer to the fact the team’s owner, Bud Adams, focused his changes drive on the promotion of his managers as a reward to the better show-off of the team in the past season.
Those who the owner announced have been promoted to better slots include Mike Reinfeldt who becomes Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the team. He had been performing the role of a general manager earlier.
Other managers who have been promoted by the owner are Ruston Webster, who has taken over the place of Reinfeldt as general manager, and Lake Dawson, who gets the vice president of player personnel slot.
Adams said that he was pleased with the team’s performance. They have managed to stabilize the side over the past year, he said. The progress will continue to help the team to move into right direction in the future.
"We have done what I think is a nice job of stabilizing our football operation over the last year, and this will solidify our operation even further," Adams said. "I like where things are headed, and this stability will allow our team to continue growing
together. I know these moves will make our organization a better one."
The Titans were unlucky to have missed out on the possibility of reaching into the playoff round through last wild card. They lost the opportunity to the unexpected entrants the Cincinnati Bengals, who came from behind many clear contenders to reach the
postseason.
In spite of that the Titans have been credited to have come well from their 6-10 score of a season earlier to finish just behind their American Football Conference (AFC) South division rivals, the Houston Texans. The Texans ended the regular season with
the score of 10-6 on the league table.
The coach, Mike Munchak, who was in his first year at the side, praised his players for their performance on the field. He said that it was a great achievement irrespective to the fact that they could not make it to the playoff.
The loss of their game against the previously winless Indianapolis Colts was turning point of the season that affected their chances of playing into the playoff.
