Tennessee Titans sign rookie LB Zach Brown, aim to consolidate defence strength-NFL News
The Tennessee Titans have lingered on with assigning of deals to their rookie players, who have been inducted into the side out of the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, held from April 26 to 28.
As of Monday, May 21, Titans’ management has agreed to terms with linebacker, Zach Brown, but did not disclose terms of the contract including the tenure and value.
Brown’s agent has also not commented on the deal and in absence of information from any of the concerned stakeholders, the player’s contractual conditions remain unspecified.
Brown turns out to be the fourth rookie to have reached a deal with the team. Titans, who have selected seven picks off this year’s draft, still have three more players to sign.
The second-round pick, Zach, is coming out of North Carolina. He played 47 games in total for the team and his record consists of 230 tackles, seven interceptions and 5.5 sacks.
Meanwhile, hiring of the player remains crucial for the defensive scheme of Titans, who recently said to have become wary of the second-lowest sack record of the league their defensemen had produced last season.
The team has backed their linebackers now to go harder and faster after the opponent quarterbacks and improve on their overall sacks’ score.
It is for this need that the management had looked at their linebacker situation and added the rookie to their setup.
Titans are hopeful that the rookie and experienced defensive players will come out with a better form and performance next season, leaving no room for leniency and lapse.
It was rather unfortunate for the Titans to have left out of the playoff race due to some unexpected developments on the league’s points table.
Even more rueful were some of their losses such as one against the previously winless Indianapolis Colts, which cost them the chance of making it to the second round.
The team hopes to regain the opportunity this year and has underlined the need for better performance from their players, particularly their defensive line-up.
