Tennessee Titans uncertain about quarterback Matt Hasselbeck return – NFL News
The Tennessee Titans on Tuesday said that they were uncertain about the chances of return of their quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to their side for their next game against Indianapolis Colts this Sunday.
Titans coach Mike Munchak said that the player was still sore but walking and it was unclear if he could join them for their next game on the weekend.
The coach said that they will wait and see if Hasselbeck makes it to the side for their practice session on Wednesday. They will only then be able to determine his next move, he said.
Munchak added that the side did not have any latest information with regard to his MRI scans but it was expected that he has improved and his recovery was in its latest phase.
If Hasselbeck is out for the Titans next game it will be another chance for the rookie Jake Locker to start for the side for the first time.
He had replaced Johnson for second half in their game a couple of weeks ago. It led to the speculations that he might be promoted to take Johnson’s place. However Johnson was back from injury next week.
The coach said that whoever starts for them does not matter as much for as does the winning of the game.
"We have to win these three games. If Matt's healthy, then Matt will quarterback us. As far as Jake, he'll have plenty of time to be our guy. So we wouldn't put him in just to give him experience. We know we can win with him in
there. We feel real good about what we've seen in just the two games he's had a chance to play," Munchak said. "Our thing is we have three huge games ahead of us, and we got to take care of all three of those if we want to play anymore."
The Titans are playing the winless Indianapolis Colts this week aiming for a win to keep their hopes of a wild card berth into playoff alive.
Their last week’s loss against the New Orleans Saints had pushed them one game away from the wild card berth chance. It is currently held by the New York Jets (8-5). Both teams have three games more to play each to finish the season.
