Tennessee stands united on Peyton Manning’s signing with Titans, no word from QB yet-NFL News
Quarterback, Peyton Manning, is heading into the second week of free agency without a solid offer from any team around the National Football League (NFL), but the increase in activity at Tennessee can lead to the possibility of him landing a deal with Titans.
Peyton visited Titans’ headquarters on Wednesday, 14, 2012 following his similar trip to the Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins.
He spent about eight hours with Titans’ managers, owner and coaches, and since then there is a hustle bustle among them, apparently targeting the player’s homecoming, where he had played the college league.
The increase in activity at Titans reflects on the team’s seriousness in pursuing the player’s signing, which is well within the wishes of the owner, Bud Adams, who wants the player at all costs.
A couple of media sections have reported that the owner has even offered the player a deal for life time, and invited him to join them after his retirement from the professional league.
The owner is not alone in the talk around Manning’s prospects coming to Tennessee. In fact, the managers, coaches, present and former Titans’ players and most importantly local fans are unanimously urging Manning to join them.
Yet no one could have expected a better way to motivate and convince Peyton to consider Titans as his next destination than the legislatures’ lobbying.
As of the latest, the general assembly of the state of Tennessee has offered to lobby on behalf of the team to attract the player.
Moreover, it is not just talk that the Tennessee Titans are relying on for wooing the player to weigh reaching a deal with them. The team has also made some changes to its squad to use it as bait for Peyton.
A day earlier, they have signed the QB’s long-term and close friend, offensive guard, Steve Hutchinson, in a ploy to facilitate Manning’s arrival to Tennessee.
Titans, meanwhile, have not moved a step backward since the owner, Bud Adams, showed the interest in signing of the player. They are campaigning all around to pave the way for his coming to Tennessee.
On the other hand, Peyton Manning, who is approaching to second week on the free agency since the release by the Indianapolis Colts, has not said anything regarding his next move.
This leaves him open to all the available options.
Meanwhile, he continues to hear positive opinion on his recovery from the neck injury and ability to play again effectively.
