  1. Its one of the hardest sports out there.

baseball- u know where your gonna have to run next, the strike zone is tiny compared to a tennis court

basketball-yea its one of those that i think r equal to tennis

football- learn to catch, tackle and throw and ur in the NFL

thats just some of the ways that tennis is really harder than other sports out there

    i play 14 hours + a week

    its tough

    enjoyable

    and amazing

  2. of course, you put effort and physical work into it

  3. TENNIS IS DEFINITELY A SPORT!

I wouldn't run 3 miles a day to get ready for something that isn't a sport!  Plus, I'd like to see any regular person walk out there and play a 5-set match in the blazing sun.  Anyone who says tennis isn't a sport is an idiot and deserves to be slapped.

But Bowling is not a sport.  My dad can do that and he is 323 pounds!  That doesn't sound very athletic to me.

  4. I think your school is full of a bunch of BI4TCHES

Tennis has to be one of the best sports out there now that NASCAR, and Golf are showing on TV. This is ridiculous

  5. no.......just kidding YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

ps. i hope that helps ☻☺☻☺☻☺☺☺

  6. Most grueling sport there is. Mental toughness as well as physical.

  7. you should ask the same question about NASCAR and GOLF..Tennis is the best sport (besides SOCCER) hehe.

  8. Definatly a sport. one of the two hardest. that and ice hockey. anyone can catch a football or throw a basketball into a net. drive down any suburban street and you'll see about a dozen basketball nets. anyone can throw a football and move ehir weight around and hit someone. tennis needs accuracy, and a great serve. Hockey needs the ability to skate, need i say more? no, especially because this is about tennis. final answer, yes, tennis is a sport, big time, anyone that says no, let me know and i'll play you in a game, it'll be fun.

  9. of course it's a sport.  looks easy when you watch someone play it.  but once u go out there and play it, u find out that it takes a lot of hard work and dedication 2 play it.

  10. it's a sport

  11. It is definitely a sport, you don't know how fit someone has to be to play on court for more than 2 hours and grind out shots that contort your body.

  12. Tennis IS a sport.  It requires just as much physical energy and practice as any other sport.  Although it might not be as popular it's getting there!

  13. obviously tennis is a real sport.

people who think its not should get out on the court in the sun and try to play a 5 set match.

tennis is a sport that requires both skill, fitness and really good stamina.

there are not many games that require the stamina and fitness tennis does.

maybe these people got to see nadals conditioning and the five hour matches before commenting that tennis is not a sport.

tennis is a sport and a great one.

    i love tennis!

  14. What kind of question is that ! Its one of the hardest sport! i think the real debate should be on if cheerleading and dancing should be a sport !

  15. I agree with the previous answerer - Tennis is a real sport,

the debate should be on Cheerleading

  16. Um, yeah, it's a sport.  It is incredibly difficult, too.  I think they should look at Rafa... or Moya... or just about any player and see that they spend a lot of time on conditioning and training.  I can't imagine why it wouldn't be called a real sport.  That's odd.

  17. Go and boil your head. Try to play a single set and don't wonder if you wake up next day with sore legs. Tennis is very mush a sport, and a tough one.

  18. Tell those bunch in your school to debate if the hamburger eating contest is a sport or not

  19. definitely a sport! =]

  20. Absolutely. Sure, a couple of old fat guys can stand on opposite ends of the court and gently pat the ball back and forth, but to play properly, you've got to be in shape. It involves running from side to side without much in the way of breaks and, since matches do not have a time limit, you could be out there QUITE a while. If you're out of shape, you'll get worn out in no time. Then there's the skill and coordination required. Don't let the pros fool you, it is most definitely NOT an easy sport. It is not enough to just swing at the ball. You've got to time your swing perfectly and have the racquet face in just the right position or you're just going to end sending balls over the fence... time and time again.

  21. Well it is and it isn't that easy as people think.

Just for the running part, it is like you are running suicides, but while carrying a racket and have to constantly think about where you will hit the ball.

  22. Of course its a sport. IDK about cheerleading, bowling, NASCAR and golf. But tennis is. There are a lot of short sprints. You have to be able to aim and hit balls that are coming extremely fast and you have to do that while running.  There is no way its not a sport. If tennis isn't, IDK what is.

  23. definitely a sport

    Whole heap of fitness required

A lot of skill / technique and practise

    Competitive

Works out pretty much every muscle in your body.

If you want a debate on what is a sport or isnt consider:

    chess

    or maybe even table tennis

    or lawn bowls even

(*even though table tennis and lawn bowls are kinda sports ...)

  24. are yu kidding. h**l yeah its a real work out. yu have to have great legs to withstand playing it wit experienced players

  25. What a stupid question?

    A) You have to be able to run up and down the courts when playing a decent player. - requires some speed and some endurance since you play more than just one point - multiple sets make you tired

    B) You need to be able to swing a racquet properly or it won't even go over the net.

    C) Serving isn't the easiest thing in the world.

    D) Hand-eye coordination.

    E) Footwork

    F) Concentration

In response to the people that says it's THE sport that takes the most skill, sorry, golf is

  26. An activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively.

That is one definition of sport.

Tennis is a sport. Why? well let us see, there is physical extertion involved in the SPORT of tennis, if there wasn't there would be no tennis grunts.

There are also rules and customs, whether a hit is a fault or out, etc.

    Usually tennis is competitive.

I hope this helped you for your debate.

  27. It's definitely a real sport and one of the most difficult in my opinion (I know since I've played many sports before, including tennis).

  28. of course tennis is a real sport. any game that has a ball (or any object that is thrown/slid around like a hockey puck or a badminton birdie) in it is a sport. that means cheer leading, running, swimming, nascar, horse racing, and whatever else you can think of that doesn't have a ball is not a sport. you could classify them as "competitions."

  29. Tennis is a sport. You have to be in excellent shape to play it. Not a lot of people in the world who excel in it. So, just give it a try for about 20 hours a week or more, and you will find out.

  30. of course!!! tennis is a sport! and if its not a sport why is it included as one of the sports in the olympics...

  31. It's actually one of the harder sports out there. The average person can play catch with a football or baseball, but tennis requires hand eye coordination plus much more fitness at its high levels than most other games.

If the average person tried to hit a few balls with anyone who knows the game, they'd realize it's not nearly as easy as it looks. It's truly a mental and physyical challenge, and I coach the d**n game :P
