Question:

Tennis...Have you noticed these two things?

Two questions. Have you noticed that Roger Federer ALWAYS, has some rediculous excuse for losing. I have watched tennis since McEnroe, Connors, and Borg. I have never seen a more poor loser than Roger, but he does it in this subtle passive way, and then everyone thinks he is such a "gentleman"...BS!! Two months after the Australian loss, a report comes out, "oh I had mono when I lost". Who cares? Then today, already, "it is sad I lost a chance at history because of lack of light". SHUT UP. As if Nadal didn't have the same light as you. He can never just say, "my opponent played a better match"...and leave it at that. He has done this ever since becoming #1. Has anyone except me noticed this?

The other question is...as much as I enjoy watching Nadal play, has anyone else but me noticed the eye sore of watching him, which is Nadal picking the underwear out of his butt...AFTER EVERY SINGLE POINT?

Who else has noticed these two things?

  1. yeah, when he knew it was almost over in the 5th set, he complained about the crowd taking Flash pictures during the match.

that was an amazing tennis match and the fans deserve a few pics for themselves

roger needs to acknowledge that nadal can play

I also love how j mac says that Nadal is his vote for #1 in the world already

he loves Nadal so much, but can you blame him?

  2. he always takes defeat well enough but loseing ment more than nadal winning. it was really windy both would say it was dark too when they were taken pics the different in the flash and regular light was great

if he was not ask adout the light then it would have never come up

i still give tremendous credit to nadal but come on if nadal lost serve do you think roger wouldn't bring out 4 ace to win

it could have gone to either one

nadal sweats and to grab there so often and then shake hands :(

  3. Yea I have also noticed that. I got tired of hearing roger's interviews after he loses cause he always has an excuse. The nadal picking his underwear after every point does get annoying. Maybe its cause he wears those tight pants. Maybe if he just wore regular shorts he wouldn't have to do that and annoy players. I don't like roger because he always has an excuse. I don't think he had mono, I think it was just another excuse. He won his first two matches in Australia just losing 6 games. I think he just be a man and stop making excuses.

  4. Well you put yourself in Fedrer's position. You might say the same things that he does after he loses a title. It is hard to accept a setback being the king of tennis. However, no one is worried about his excuses. It is just at the moment because it is so emotional out there. RF is a 5 times winner, Nadal might never experience such emotions because he won it for the first time in his life. Everyone has noticed it and everybody wanted RF to win for the 6th time.

You notice things. It is good. RN does pick his underwear after every single point. Other things such as putting the bottles in certain directions, the racket pointing in a certain direction and many other things. Maybe its all his good luck charm. LOL...Cheers Mate

It was an awesome fight between the two and they displayed the best in the history of tennis. Loved every moment of it.

  5. I have heard one other person in my whole life say that about Roger. Other players are so much worse than Federer (Hewitt for example) they argue and fuss over single points.

He never complains during a match, one little thing and everyone starts jumping on him. It would be so hard being the number one player for so long.. Pat Rafter and other players have said they just couldn't be so humble and nice to the media and other players.

I have heard Roger admit that other players have played better than himself plenty of times too. Nadal also complained about the light after the match.

Quotes from Roger after the 2008 Wimbledon final:

"Rafa’s a deserving champion,” Federer said. “He just played fantastically.”

"He was rock-solid, the way we know him,” said Federer, “He’s definitely improved his game.”

And the thing about Nadal, yea I think everyone has noticed that, sometimes I wish he would get pants that stopped him from doing that. But I have also heard it's a habbit from when he was younger.

Other players do annoying things too... so you just have to learn to ignore it =]

  6. Your an Idiot, thats what i noticed

  7. Perfect. I thought i was the only one who noticed this.

This i guess, is partly why he (Roger) is not my favorite player. I do have an immense amount of respect for him though.

As for Nadal, you will have to excuse his lack of etiquette.  Remember, this is the same guy who bites into his trophies after he wins them.  But  i have never been more proud of a tennis player's effort, than I am of Rafa's effort today.

Its sweet vindication, after he got injured during last year's Wimbledon final.-- Oh yeah - maybe he should have used that as an excuse when he lost last year?  Atleast it would have been a valid excuse!  LOL.

  8. Hmmm.  Well the mono I think is a more valid excuse, especially since it wasn't him but his doctors and agents that made the announcement.  I for one was shocked that he even mentioned the light being a problem.  I guess I'm guilty of the things that you say about worshiping Federer for his classiness and such but I really do think he means it sincerely.  He has always shown himself to be a gentleman and his on-court interview was very classy, he didn't make any mention of the light.  But you are definitely correct, making the excuse of light was ridiculous, I for one am shocked and disappointed that he would do that.  I don't think that he has done it as much as you say he has, but that's ok.  I mean, I don't remember him making any excuses after the French and he did say on court after the Wimbledon final that Rafa had simply outplayed him and deserved it.  I definitely remember him saying something just like that, maybe not word for word.  But once again, you're correct, it wasn't right of him to blame the light even though he did mention it in passing.  I do not think he really meant to take anything away from Nadal by saying that, those two have too much respect for each other to make an excuse like that, I think it's more likely that fed was suffering from a slight bout with depression after that match and was more searching for answers within himself and happened to be in a press conference when that idea came by.  But it's very likely since I'm a Fed fan that everyone I have said is bullshit, feel free to dismiss it all if you wish but I really do disagree when you say that he really isn't a gentleman.

And secondly, yes lol, I hate that but at the same time it kind of defines him as a player, he doesn't care what people think of him he's going to do what he needs to do to win and by god if that means to avoid the possible slight discomfort of a wedgie during any given point he will yank it out in front of millions of people, he doesn't give a d**n lol.
