Question:

Tennis Lessons?

Right now, I am having a semi-private tennis lesson with this guy who totally suck. He have been playing for like almost two years and my friend that just started playing can play better than him (forehands, backhands). Is it bad for my tennis game to continue lessons with him because when I play with him, I have no inspiration to inspire me to play better.

My tennis level is pretty decent where I have a strong forehand, solid backhand, good volleys and I can serve.

Should I just find someone better to have lessons with because right now, that guy has seemingly no potential and accorinding to many websites online, it said not to play with people a lot worse than you.

Thanks for all your answers!

  1. the same thing happened to me......i know it sucks......what i did was i found a friend who was better than me and then we went and played at the local high school. i improved alot FAST!! i think it is because when you have an instructor, they just hit the ball perfectly at you with perfect spin etc (well maybe not in your case).....but you just need to play with someone better that can make you shots you have to run for or that aren't necessarily perfect.

  2. You get what you pay for.  If all the instructor does it have you play against each other, it's not worth the money.  Get real private lessons, or find better people to play with.

  3. im not insulting ur intelligence or anything...

WHY WUD SOMEONE TAKE LESSONS FROM SOMEONE WHO IS WORSE THAN THEM???????

go to a club, ask friends, or look for a local pro to find a person to give u lessons...

    Common sense buddy.

    (no offense)

  4. If you are not improving, move on. Two years is not enough time under the belt to teach.

  5. get a new teacher, or pick other sport.
