Tennis News: Andy Murray looks to regain AEGON Championship title at Queen’s Club
World number four, British Andy Murray is aiming to regain his title at the pre Wimbledon tournament at Queen’s Club. The 23-year-old earned his first British title here in 2009 without losing a set.
Murray will play along some other major players including the world number one Spaniard Rafael Nadal and the world number two Serb Novak Djokovic who is currently with a 24-0 perfect winning record this season and had won all the tournaments he entered.
Some other major player joining him will be four times AEGON Championships winner American Andy Roddick and Argentinean Juan Martin Del Potro.
"Winning my first grass court title here in 2009 was an amazing feeling,” said Murray, who had never previously won a title on British soil.
“It means a lot to me to have my name on the trophy next to great champions such as John McEnroe, Pete Sampras and Rafael Nadal who have won it in the past.”
Murray after displaying his awe-inspiring performance at the start of the season including his performance at Australian Open, where he reached the final before losing to Novak Djokovic earlier this season, collapsed afterwards. He exited from the opening rounds at Rotterdam, Indian Wells and Miami but he is aiming to regain his form and his title 2011 AEGON Championship.
The Queen’s Club tournament is a road to Wimbledon, making it a special tournament. The tournament takes place after the clay court season from June 6-12 and it has the most spectacular grass courts in the world. In addition to this, the crowd is amazing as well and the atmosphere is awesome.
“Usually players that have done well at Queen's have gone on to do well at Wimbledon. I can't wait to get playing," Murray said.
Murray is currently looking for a new coach to help him cinch this tournament and improve his individual performance as well. He is eyeing for a special coach to help him progress in the on-going clay season, since the surface is not particularly the Brit’s favourite.
He is temporarily approaching the former coaches of Andre Agassi and Greg Rusedski to halt his alarming slump in form. The Scot will use Australian Darren Cahill and Dutchman Sven Groeneveld on temporary basis through his sponsor Adidas and will still be looking for a better option.
