Tennis News: World No. 3 Kim Clijsters loves being a mum
Belgium's World No. 3, Kim Clijsters has stated that she loves being a mother shortly after a warm-up session on centre court in Sydney, Australia. Clijsters came back bigger and better after giving birth to daughter Jada, taking the 2009 U.S. Open Women's
singles title.
Married to American basketball player Brian Lynch, Kim said, "The second dawning all comes down to balance of family life, travelling with my daughter and husband. I think in any girl's life it [motherhood] makes a big difference and it has the same in mine.
I really feel I have a good balance and I feel that is the most important thing. I'm also very lucky my family is able to travel with me."
Clijsters added that at first, it was hard for her to find a balance between continuing to play tennis and at the same time fulfilling her responsibilities as a mother but she could not have even thought of making a return had Jada not been by her side.
Kim went on to say, "I was practising yesterday and it was kind of like, you know good times, but it makes you realise that there were certain times in my life I really didn't feel like living this lifestyle any more. But after having Jada and getting married
and everything, it was just a luxury having them with me."
The former World No. 1 hinted at continuing with her professional career for at least another four years. According to Clijsters, as long as things go well in her life and Jada isn't obligated to go to school, she will try to keep her play going.
The Belgian recently clinched the Women Tennis Association Championship in Doha.
