Tennis Players Only Please. Examples of drills to improve my playing when I am by myself on the court.

Sometimes I drive myself to the tennis court just to practice serving or something. I was wondering if anyone knows any other great drills to do to improve my game. All the drills you know that don't involve more than one person please. Thanks

  1. have you tried placing and picking balls on several spots on the court?

try to put 5 balls, one at each line with intersections:

    (1) at the left back corner

    (2) at the right back corner

    (3) at the left corner of the service box

    (4) at the center line of the service box

    (5) at the right corner of the service box

stand at the center of the baseline. this is the start point

get ready and start the stopwatch. run to point (1) and pick the ball up, then run to the start point and place the ball on the ground. repeat until every ball is collected and stop the stopwatch. take a five minute break and re-place the balls. repeat the training for about 4 sets. record and compare your time. this should be a great work out to keep you fit and agile all around the court. let me know if this works for you :)

  2. Well, here's a good one that I do that really helped develop my serve game. Take two balls, serve one and drop the other one to the ground and hit a groundstroke with it (backhand or forhand whichever needs more work). What this does is it allows you to practice your serves.

What this drill really does is people practice serving, but sometimes struggle when an opponent returns a great serve. So this prepares you in case of a return and of course sharpens up your serve. It also allows you to place a ball directly after a serve. Say you hit a slice serve that drives the player deep out of court, you can place the ball in the other corner.

    Hope that helped =]

  3. ok look man

you have to remember lots of things off court matter too

so do daily excercises, like pushups crunches, lunges etc that sort of thing

and also you need to see what u are not as good at in your tennis. if your backhand needs work, hit against a wall.jogging around the court

this all helps. not just the on court stuff

    hope this helps

  4. It kind of depends on what you are lacking in. If you need to work on your groundstrokes hit against a wall or backboard. If you are already doing excercises that is good but you should probably throw some running into the mix. Good luck!!

  5. Do suicides.
