Tennis Special Report: 2010 ATP tour- Top twenty five unpredictable matches this season (Part one)
During this season, a couple of big names on the ATP tour stumbled, losing from great heights whereas their lower ranked foes achieved the apparently impossible.
All this excitement combined with the unexpected results makes the game of tennis a fascinating sport, as on any given day the number one seed may lose to some player ranked as low as below fifty in the world.
The top ranked contenders, of course, from both sides are immensely talented without any question. Most of the time they end up winning their important matches against the less favourite contenders. However, the will to triumph at times helps a great deal
and builds up the confidence of the lower ranked players to upset the big guns.
Bettor.com, therefore, takes a look at all those upsets in 2010 that made our jaws drop; our amazement meters rocket whereas our gullibility stretched to admit the outcome. In all the clashes given below, the winner of the match was not expected by pundits,
fans as well as bookies.
25. World number 80 Fabio Fognini beat eighth ranked Fernando Verdasco- first round Wimbledon

The grass court Grand Slam tournament this season turned out to be the biggest night mare for the Spaniard tennis ace, Fernando as he did not even get a chance to change his outfit at the All England Club.
He previously reached the fourth round at Wimbledon on two occasions in a row therefore this first round departure came as a real shock for the right hander as well as his fans.
Fabio, who had been forced to compete in the dark during an epic encounter versus Gael Monfils at Roland Garros earlier in 2010, came at the All England Club ranked number eight in the South African Airways ATP list. However, as the entire tennis community
who witnessed that popular clash could attest, Fabio had something magical without any question.
The professional tennis player from Italy, Fabio, looked extremely determined right from the start of the match. His serve fully supported him in his four setter victory over Verdasco in the end. The final match score was 7-6, 6-2, 6-7, 6-4.
The match looked quite even until the opening set tie-break when Fabio won the advantage. His dominance continued in the second set however, Verdasco also did not give up and came back strongly to take the third set in a tiebreak.
In the decisive set, Fabio, once again showed his higher level of determination and thus emerged victorious in the end.
By virtue of this win, Fabio made his way into the second round of Wimbledon whereas Verdasco on the other hand went back home on a disappointing note.
24. World number 22 Jurgen Melzer overpowered eleventh ranked David Ferrer; third round French Open

The second most successful Spanish tennis player on clay, David Ferrer, was thrashed out in the third round of French Open by Jurgen Melzer in three sets. The final match score was 6-4, 6-0, and 7-6.
In fact, David not just lost to Melzer, but he fell in comfortable straight sets which was even more shocking for everyone. His opponent’s power left him helpless on the court and he could not get back into the game at any stage.
By the time an hour passed, the Spaniard was already down two sets. He showed some signs of greatness by stretching the third set into a tie breaker before losing it at 7-6 in the end.
In this way, Ferrer, who was one of the hot favourites to win the title at French Open, ended his tournament’s campaign surprisingly after two hours of play.
