So im trying to develop my one handed slice backhand and for some reason i keep hitting the frame sometimes. (on forehand too, but VERY VERY rare) is there anything i can do to fix my backhand stroke wise?

and while im at it, i use a speedport tour and im wondering how much the balance of it will change if i add (6 grams/0.2 oz) to it. or how much the balance changes with each additional gram

thx

  1. Ignore the last answer, almost EVERY pro customizes their racquet, either with lead tape hidden somewhere under the grommet/grip, or they get their racquets custom made.  and you would have to say where you would put the lead tape, putting it in the throat does not change the balance, just gives a higher swingweight.  putting it at the top will make it more head heavy, which will give you more power but the racquet will be harder to control (virtually no good players play with a head heavy racquet, an even balance is about as high as most go) and weight in the handle will let you whip the racquet around more easily, so you can get more spin and control.  and as for the frames, that generally means one of two things either your racquet is waaaay too open when you swing, or you arnt watching the ball, my money is on the latter.

  2. I wouldnt worry about changing the balance. You dont see the pros doing that and Ive never heard of it. For your backhand slice I would recomend going more forward with your shot. Instead of sweeping downward straight follow through in front of you. This will result in less contact with the frame.
