Tennis Update: 2010 Kremlin Cup- Victor Troicki zips through to championship final

Serbia's Victor Troicki eliminated Uruguay's Pablo Cuevas in the semi-finals of the 2010 Kremlin Cup to make a place for himself in the championship final. Cuevas lost a disappointing 3-6, 3-6, two sets in a row to be sent home.

Earlier to facing Troicki in the semi's, Pablo defeated the Czech Republic's Radek Stepanek in the quarter-final match played between the two. Stepanek lost the first set 4-6 and the second set 6-7, right after Cuevas took the set based upon a tie-breaker.

Meanwhile, Troicki deleted Argentina's Horacio Zeballos in the quarter-final match of his draw to make it through to the semi-finals. The Serb got off to a good start, taking the first set 6-2 and furthermore, went on to win the second set 6-1.

Zeballos got through with Romania's Victor Crivoi prior to opposing Troicki in the quarter-finals. After going nip and tuck in the match, the Argentinean came out victorious against Crivoi, taking the first set 7-5 and the second one 7-6.

In the time being, Troicki defeated Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round of the tournament. Tsonga instantly exercised his authority on the game, taking the first set 6-3. However, in a reverse of fortune, Jo-Wilfried lost the second set 3-6. Nevertheless,
after going head-to-head in the third set, it was Victor who took the decider 7-5 to advance at the tournament.

Upon being seeded no. 3 at the championship, Tsonga received a buy into the second round. On the contrary, the unseeded Serb defeated wild card entrant, Russia's Dmitry Tursunov in the first round.

Tursunov bagged the first set based on his 7-5 win. Troicki however, took the second set 6-4 and went on to take the third set 6-3, to make it through to the following round of the 2010 Kremlin Cup.

Seeded no. 4 at the tournament, Cyprus' Marcos Baghdatis battled it out against Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin in the semis of his draw.  Marcos initiated the match with a 6-4 win. However, the two remained evenly contested in the second set, which went in favour
of Istomin, as he took it 7-6. Furthermore, Baghdatis and Denis wound up in a tie-breaker in the third set of the match. Unfortunately, for Istomin, Marcos took the decider based upon his 7-6 win. Additionally, Victor will be opposed by Baghdatis in the championship
final.
