Tennis Update: Andre Agassi to team up with Lu Yen-Hsun at 2011 Rise of Legends
Lu Yen-Hsun of Taiwan will be forming an alliance with the legendary Andre Agassi of America to face compatriot Jimmy Wang and former tennis professional Marat Safin of Russia in the 2011 Rise of Legends' all-star doubles game at the Taipei Arena.
Furthermore, apart from the best of three singles match between Agassi and Safin, Yen-Hsun will go head to head with the World No. 10, Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in a one-set singles match.
Before the start of the competition, all five contestants appeared at a press conference where Andre stole all the limelight, becoming the centre of attention.
Agassi stated that he was more than pleased to see the level of commitment to tennis in Taipei has remained unchanged over all these years. He added that sports in general are growing dramatically in Taiwan with Lu and a number of other big players being
the major accomplishments.
Andre had earlier visited Taiwan in 1986 and then again in 1988. The former American professional was also quizzed about his autobiography "Open: An Autobiography" to which he stated that he wanted to walk his readers through his life as seen through his
own lens and tell them all that he has learnt. He went on to add that he wanted to turn an honest lens on himself. Some might say that Agassi was hard on some people in his book but he believes he was actually the hardest on himself.
Andre thinks that Spain's Rafael Nadal would eventually top Switzerland's Roger Federer as the former is still only twenty four years of age.
Agassi said, "You got two of the best players ever played in the same generation and it is a rivalry we never see in our sport. Nadal is a 24 year old and he is coming out with a whole lot of confidence and athleticism. It is going to be hard, but it would
not be the first time that Federer impressed me or surprised me. He is done surprising me but he continually impresses me."
