Tennis Update: Andy Murray clinched victory for Britain in the Hopman Cup
Andy Murray has started his new year with a splendid win over the twenty nine years Old Italian tennis player Potito Starace. The British number one was aiming for a good start and he has started the year with a remarkable performance in the ongoing mixed
team Hopman Cup tournament, which is being held in Perth these days.
It took seventy seven minutes to the twenty three years old Briton to outclass his Italian rival and earned a victory for Great Britain in the event. The win for Murray was pretty important as it has given him a very good start and a new motivation for the
upcoming games. Moreover, he has been able to level the points with Italy by winning his match because Murray compatriot team mate, the young and talented Laura Robson endured a disappointing defeat from the Italian veteran Francesca Schiavone.
Potito seemed pretty aggressive in the first set of the match and gave a good challenge to the British ace but in the second set of the match, Andy Murray dominated the court pretty brilliantly. It was a two setter match, which was won by the former world
number four Murray by 7-5 and 6-1.
After the match, the Scot Murray seemed pretty satisfied with his performance and form. While talking to the media he expressed his thoughts by saying that it was a good match for him to start the new season. Andy considers that the match was pretty tough
for him as the weather conditions were not very suitable for him. It is to be noticed that the current world number four Murray has always been struggling to perform in the hot and humid weather conditions and while playing against Potito, it seemed as he
was not very comfortable.
While talking about the fact he told the media that it was very humid and he was facing difficulty in breathing properly during the match. He added that the humid weather had made the match even tougher for him. Murray also said that the huge presence of
the crowd in the match was very appreciating for him and he had loved the whole environment of the event.
While talking about his physical fitness the Briton said that he was not feeling very fit during the match as he was facing difficulty in breathing and felt tiredness in the second set of the match. He added that he is very hopeful that his fitness condition
will improve during the upcoming matches of the event.
When he was asked about his partner Laura Robson' ear problem, Murray said that he is hoping that his partner Laura will recover from her ear problem. He continued that he is very well aware that Laura is not feeling very well in the event but he is confident
that they will be able to give a very strong challenge to the rival team. He added that Laura is a perfect partner and he has always enjoyed playing along side her. He said that playing in a mixed doubles match is really exciting and he has always enjoyed
playing in the mixed doubles events.
On the other hand, the performance of Laura Robson was not at all discouraging as well. According to some media critics, the game of the sixteen years old talented British player was not at all under the par as she gave a very strong challenge to the Italian
ace Schiavone. Playing against one of the top players of the world is never too easy but the current world number two hundred and seventeen Laura gave her best in the match. In the second set of the match, Laura suffered some ear-ache. The current world number
seven Francesca Schiavone snatched the victory of the match by 7-5 and 6-3.
