Tennis Update: Andy Murray hammered Roger Federer mercilessly to win Shanghai Masters
The British number one tennis ace Andy Murray showed his great class by crushing the former world number one, Swiss champ Roger Federer in straight sets, in the final of the Shanghai Masters tournament. The Scot bluntly showed that he is back on the top
of his playing form with his staggering performance by winning a pretty convincing battle by 6-3 6-2.
Andy Murray snatched the second title of the year by beating the Swiss legend once again. He also defeated the former world number one in the Toronto Masters final which was held in Toronto in August. It took the Briton ace just eighty five minutes to brush
the Swiss veteran away marvellously.
Murray broke his rival’s serve in the first game of the first set and displayed some jaw dropping game of tennis. He saved all the six break points.
On the other hand, the two setter match proved to be a bit too hard for the current world number two. Roger Federer seemed a little out of touch and failed to give a very strong challenge to the twenty three year old. The twenty nine years old tennis veteran
Federer made thirty unforced errors in the match and gave a very easy victory to Murray.
The current world number four, Andy Murray was playing clean and confident shots as compared to his veteran rival. Whereas, Federer failed to produce an impressive game, as all of his efforts were seemed to be going in vain. The disappointing smash from
him in the game seven almost gave Murray a double break point. Later a double fault by Murray gave a break point to Federer but after that, the Scot worked hard, recovered tremendously well in the match and took total control over the set.
In the beginning of the second set, Federer had some good chances of getting back into the game but he failed to capitalize from 15-40. The current world number three was struggling with his backhand shot. He made too many mistakes and gave an easy victory
to his rival.
After the match when the British top tennis ace was asked about his feelings, the Scot told that he has always enjoyed playing against Roger Federer as playing against the Swiss legend is not less than a test. He added and said that Federer is a great player
and he is not at all easy to play against, as he has the capacity of changing the match very quickly.
Murray admired his rival’s game and said that playing against Roger is never easy and whenever he plays against him he has to give his full to snatch the victory. Murray has defeated Federer eight times out of thirteen matches. Murray said that he is happy
that he was able to play some great shots in the match and it is very important for a player to play great tennis to beat Federer. The twenty three year old added that it was a great week of tennis for him and he is very happy with the way he has performed.
The Shanghai Masters title has given him a lot of confidence for the upcoming tennis events.
On the other hand, despite of losing the match, Federer has been successfully able to improve his ranking, from world number three to world number two. The Swiss star expressed his thoughts very confidently and said that he is happy with the way he has played
throughout the tournament. He added that he had some marvellous victories against Andreas Seppi, Robin Soderling and Novak Djokovic and he is very happy with the way he has performed. Federer admired the game of Andy Murray and said that Andy played really
well and he deserved the victory.
