Tennis Update: Andy Murray progresses at China Open despite his injuries
The British number one tennis star Andy Murray defeated his French rival Paul Henri Mathieu in the first round of the China Open tennis tournament being held in Beijing.
The twenty three year old Briton showed his class and talent remarkably well to cruise past Mathieu. The victory in the first round of the China Open is certainly very inspiring for Andy. In the match, the current world number four broke the rivals serve four times and settled the brawl pretty convincingly in just seventy four minutes.
The win against Mathieu has given him a strong confidence boost for the upcoming matches. After the match when he was asked about his experience he said that he is confident about the way he has performed and looking forward to keep the winning streak alive.
In the second set of the match, Murray made some errors and gave a good chance to the opponent to get back into the game but it seems that the Briton has got all the good luck with him. as his rival was total unable to recover. When Murray was asked about the challenge, he told the media that he gave his full and tried to give his opponent less chances to win. The Briton added that he made some mistakes in the match during the second set and gave Mathieu some chances of break points on serves but he is happy that it didn’t affect the result of the match.
Murray is now feeling confident to battle in the second round of the tournament and eyeing to clinch one more title for him. It is to be notified that the world number four will now face Andrey Golubev of Kazakhstan or the Spaniard Albert Montanes in the next round of the event.
While answering to the question about his feelings over the win, the Scot expressed his views and said that winning a match is always good and it keeps a player’s momentum running. He added by saying that it was a pretty good match for him and now he can look forward for the next match. It is to be noted that Murray was suffering from illness before coming to participate in the China Open. When he was asked about the matter he told the media that he is trying to give his full but in the match he went out of breath and that is because he is not been able to fully regain his stamina because of the sickness. He further stated that he is feeling much better now and he will try his level best to improve his current physical condition.
The Scot has not spent ample time over the court for practice after the US Grand Slam because of the illness. Talking about that he told the media that playing a serious match with out practicing much in the court is not an easy task but he is happy the way he has performed. It is to be remembered that Andy Murray faced two breaks in the match against the French and successfully saved the both pretty brilliantly. Despite of showing a little physical weakness during the match, the Scot has shown his brilliant class and skills in a remarkable way.
In other important matches of the China Open, the Serbian world number three Novak Djokovic will face Chinese opponent Gong Maoxin. Djokovic is currently enjoying the best form of his game and is considered as one of the favourites for the tournament.
On the other hand, the Swedish tennis ace and current world number five Robin Soderling, the Russian veteran performer and current world number six Nikolay Davydenko are some of the other big names participating in the China Open tournament. Now the tennis fans from all around the world are eager to see the proceedings of this fantastic tournament.
