Tennis Update: China Open 2010- Murray endured a disappointing defeat, whereas Djokovic successfully qualified for the top four
Andy Murray’s campaign for the title of ongoing China Open tennis tournament has come to an end after suffering from a disappointing defeat by Ivan Ljubicic. The top seed Briton failed to continue his winning streak in the tournament, as his thirty one year
old Croatian opponent proved to be a bit too tough for him.
In the quarter final match of the China Open event, which is being held in the Beijing these days, the current world number seventeen Ljubicic thrashed the British ace and world number four Andy Murray after a very convincing battle.
It was a very disappointing performance by the Scot as he was unable to clinch a single break point in the game. Murray seemed completely out of touch, as he was failed to display his best game. The match was of one hour and seven minutes.
Murray saved one break point in the fourth game of the first set of the match but later the Croatian displayed some remarkable talent and broke Murray in the sixth game. Murray failed to regain his confidence in the second set of the match as well as he
was broken at the start. Ljubicic served tremendously well and ended the set with a brilliant ace. In second set of the match, the Croatian displayed some remarkable serves and dragged the match away of Murray’s control by serving marvellously. The thirty
one year old sealed the victory by 6-3 6-2.
On the other hand, the defending champion and current world number two Serbian tennis ace Novak Djokovic saw off Gilles Simon pretty convincingly in a two setter match by 6-3 6-2. The twenty three year old Serbian veteran displayed the best of his game and
made his French opponent suffer. In the match, Djokovic broke thrice and successfully defended all the seven break points. The victory has given the world number two a prefect boost for the ongoing event. It is also to be noticed that Djokovic has defeated
the twenty five year old French for the fifth time in a row and it seems like the Serbian is not less than a nightmare for Gilles Simon.
Novak Djokovic is enjoying the best form of his game as this is for the fourth time that the Serbian has successfully qualified for the top four stages of a tournament out of his five attempts. He will now face the young American talented performer John
Isner in the semi finals. It is to be notified that Isner saw off the Russian ace and fourth seed of the event Nikolay Davydenko by 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 to make his way into the top four.
After winning the match, the world number two seemed very relaxed and satisfied with his performance. He said he is feeling very good and happy with the way he has performed. Djokovic is focusing more over his serve technique these days. When he was asked
about the matter, the Serbian told the world by saying that he has worked a lot to improve his serve and so far, he is very happy that his serve is getting better by day. Later the veteran added that he will try his level best to improve his serve further
more and he is hoping for the best results.
According to some reports, Djokovic was not happy with the weather conditions of Beijing. When he was asked about the matter the Serbian expressed him by saying that the air of Beijing is not fresh and that is very irritating for him. He added that sometimes
during a tough match it is always hard for an athlete to recover when the air is not fresh. He added that fresh oxygen is a must to breathe properly during long rallies in a match but unfortunately, Beijing’s air is much polluted.
