Tennis Update: Djokovic Ready to face Federer in the semi finals of the Shanghai Open
The Serbian ace tennis star, Novak Djokovic continued his staggering form and thrashed his Spanish rival Guillermo Garcia Lopez to qualify for the semi finals of the Shanghai Open tennis tournament. The current world number two proved to be a bit too tough
for the Spanish world number thirty five.
The second seed for the tournament Djokovic outclassed Garcia Lopez in just seventy seven minutes. It was a pretty convincing two setter battle for the twenty three years old, as he hammered the Spanish rival by 6-2 6-3. This is his fourth victory against
the Spaniard and it has certainly given him a strong confidence boost for the upcoming matches of the tournament. The Serbian veteran is now eyeing to carry second successive trophy.
The twenty three year old said that he was very well aware of the positive and negative aspects of Lopez’s game. Lopez is very quick in the court and hits the ball really hard which makes him a very difficult opponent during the match. Djokovic admired his
rival’s performance and said that Garcia played very well and he made him give his best to win the match.
Djokovic will now face the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer in the semi finals of the tournament. It is to be noticed that the Serb will face the Swiss star for the first time after the US Open Grand Slam. It is also to be notified that the match in the
US Open between Djokovic and Federer was won by the current world number two.
The semi finals match against Djokovic is not going to be an easy task for the Swiss veteran, as his earlier tussle was resulted in a crucial defeat for him.
After the match when the Serb was asked about his feelings Djokovic told the media and said that, it was a great day for him and he is very happy that he was able to snatch the victory pretty easily. He admired the game of Garcia Lopez and said that the
Spaniard as been performing quite well and has improved his game a lot as he has defeated Nadal in Bangkok which is a solid proof of his talent.
In the other important matches of the tournament, the current world number three Roger Federer saw off the Swedish current world number five Robin Soderling. Roger Federer showed his outstanding class and talent pretty well and thrashed the Swedish like
never before. It was a truly one sided two setter match as Federer lost only two games and settled the brawl by 6-1 6-1.
The victory against the world number five Soderling has given him a strong boost for the upcoming battle against the Serb world number two. The sixteen times Grand Slam winner won the match with a staggering effort in just fifty four minutes. Federer lost
eleven points in the match.
The performance in the match against the Swiss was certainly very below par for the Swedish veteran, as he seemed completely out of touch during the match and failed to give a strong challenge to the twenty nine year old rival.
Andy Murray also cruised past his French rival Jo Wilfried Tsonga and strongly qualified for the semi finals of the Shanghai Open. The Briton booked his place in the semi finals after a convincing battle of fifty five minutes. The Scot won the two setter
match by 6-2 6-2.
After the match, Murray seemed pretty pleased with his performance and said that he is very satisfied with the way he has performed. He added that he has been able to keep his focus towards the game and so far, he is happy with the outcome.
The semi Final matches of the tournament are going to be thrilling and exciting as Murray is finally back on the winning track and Djokovic will battle against the sixteen times Grand Slam champion.
