Tennis Update: Gabashvili gives a tough time to Nadal and Novak thrashing opponent Troicki in the first round of US Open
The current world number 1 Rafael Nadal has successfully conquest his Russian opponent Teymuraz Gabashvili and through to the second round of the US Open.
The match between Nadal and Gabashvili came out to be a very tough match for the champ Spainiard, as Gabashvili gave him a very strong challenge. The twenty four year old won the match after a hard thrashing battle by 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 in a three setter tough match. The unseeded Gabashvili showed his strong character and dedication by serving marvellously and made the match pretty uncatchable for the world number one. It was quite exciting stamina wrenching match of two hours and fifty seven minutes, in which the world number 98 made the world number 1 struggle hard to clutch the victory.
Nadal was totally unable to break Gabashvili until the third set of the game. The court of US Open is fast and the Spaniard was not looking comfortable at all but in the end, he used his matchless technique and experience to hold the thrashing victory. After winning the match, the twenty four year old veteran tennis player told the media and expressed his views by saying that it was a very challenging match for him, as his rival played superbly well. Later, Nadal added that he was finding it difficult to serve perfectly according to his plans because the court is pretty fast and he will have to concentrate on his perfection. While talking about his serve, Nadal said that he will work on it, as it is not his strong shot but he is very well aware of the fact that he can improve it and make it better in the upcoming matches. He added that he is very well aware of the fact that this tournament will get tougher and tougher by day and he will have to work over his serve to win it. Nadal is eyeing to clutch his first US Open title, as he has never won the US Open Grand Slam title before. The Spaniard will now face Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan in the second round of the event.
In the other major match of the event Serbian ace, Novak Djokovic thrashed his fellow Serbian opponent Viktor Troicki by 6-3 3-6 2-6 7-5 6-3 after a stamina jolting battle. It was a steamy hot day in New York and the temperature made the match thornier for the world number 3, as he has always faced problems regarding sunlight and heat. The difficult conditions of the court seemed to be a bit too much for the players. After the match the twenty three year Serbian veteran Djokovic expressed his views by saying that, it was a very tough match for him, as Troicki gave him a very tough challenge. While talking about the tough conditions of the court and weather, Djokovic said that he has the experience of playing under these tough conditions before and the level of competition makes it even more difficult for a player to manage. He added that heat makes a player feel uneasy and frustrated and that is the real big problem which always happens to him while he is playing in such conditions.
The aggressive attacks of Troicki made the match more excited as he was able to clutch two sets from the world number three. Djokovic seemed frustrated and uneasy as it was not a perfect environment for him and was trying hard to shorten the rallies to save his energy but his fellow Serb rival made him suffer. However, Djokovic made a good comeback and used his experience and skills to grasp the victory. While talking about Viktor Troicki, Novak Djokovic expressed his views and told the media that Troicki was playing really well and was serving brilliantly. The world number 3 will now face Philipp Petzschner in the next match of the second round of New York, US Open.
