Tennis Update: Pennetta thrashed Kirilenko at the WTA Open, California
The stage of tennis is getting crazier and crazier with excitement in the cities of United States these days. Before the upcoming Grand Slam, these tournaments are helping tennis players to sharpen their games and improve their forms. Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Open tournament is one of those tournaments. WTA Open is being played in San Diego California these days.

Talking about quality and skills no one can ignore the sensational Italian ace tennis player Flavia Pennetta. Currently Pennetta is at the 13 spot in the list of world’s best female players and she is showing all her agony to get to the top ten like never before.
In her recent match at San Diego, California Pennata grabbed a thrashing victory over Maria Kirilenko and made her way to the quarter finals of the event. She won her match by 6-4, 7-6 (7/5). The match was better than the expectations, as both the tennis players fought hard to show their dominance over the game but in the end, it was Italian tennis star Pennetta’s day. In the first set, Pennetta showed her brilliant form and grasped her hold by winning the set by 6-4. The opponent Kirilenko tried her luck hard, showed her class successfully and saved one match point. However, sometimes a person cannot find the right amount of luck to secure the victory and that is how all the efforts of Maria Kirilenko seemed gone in vain.
After the match, the Italian sensation Flavia Pennetta expressed her views very happily and said that it was a very good match for her, as she played to her fullest and she is happy with the current performance. She said that she was a little relaxed after the first set and that relaxation made the second set a bit difficult for her. She said that her opponent was making mistakes and that helped her to clutch the victory a bit easily. The Italian admired the game of Maria Kirilenko and said that she is a very good player and has the capacity to thrash any opponent. The 28 year Italian ace said the way Kirilenko returned in the game was very impressive and remarkable, as she played the second set much aggressively with some sensational shots. She said this tournament is proving to be a very good tournament for her, as it is the best time to prove her fitness and improve the game plans before the Grand Slam, which is going to be held in New York late this month.
In the tournament, Pennetta will now compete with the Australian second seeded Samantha Stosur in the quarter final rounds and it will be a very tough challenge for her because Stosur is playing with a wonderful form and everybody is very well aware of her capability. Pennetta admitted the fact that it will be a very good challenge for her and said that she has to work hard, as Stosur is a very powerful and aggressive player. She added that she has to stay focus on her game and should work over her return shots to give Stosur a strong challenge.
In the other 2nd round match, the player from Slovakia Daniela Hantuchova beat Zheng Jie from China in a very easy match by 6-2, 6-1. Whereas, Russian Tennis veteran Vera Zvonareva thrashed a new emerging star Coco Vandeweghe to make her way to the third round.
The WTA Open tournament has entered into very exciting stage and the winner of the tournament will definitely prove her strong contender ship for the upcoming Grand Slam. Therefore, the crowd should now keep their fingers crossed to see the new champ.
