Tennis Update: Rafael Nadal inaugurates his tennis school in India

Ranked no.1 in the World, being eliminated from the 2010 Shanghai Rolex Masters 1000 hardly seemed to have an effect on Rafael Nadal, as shortly after his third round defeat, the Spaniard travelled to India to inaugurate the "Rafael
Nadal School of Tennis."
Accompanying her son was Rafa's mother, Ana Maria Parera. Ana stated that the purpose of the school was to help out the less fortunate in India, and not solely for talented young tennis players.
The school is located in Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh. Furthermore, it has been communicated that Rafa will donate over $100,000 a year for the project.
As for Nadal, after personally having interacted with the kids at the school, in the words of the professional himself, "It gives me a great deal of happiness knowing I'm helping them have a better childhood and I really hope they
make the best out of this opportunity. I would love to come back in a few years and see how those who have studied here have a new life."
Rafa also went on to say that he is very conscious of the fact that he can use his image to help make a difference on a large scale and hopes that the children make the best of this opportunity.
Prior to opening of the school, Nadal was deleted from the 2010 Shanghai Masters, losing to Austria's Jurgen Melzer in the third round of the tournament. Melzer defeated Rafa, 6-1, 3-6 and 6-3.
Moreover, the World no. 1's mother said, "We don't pretend to make tennis players. We just want to trace the mentality and the ideals of Rafa. At the end of the day, they are giving to us a lot more than what we are giving to them."
