Tennis Update: The hot and happenings in the bank of the West Classics Tournament
Tennis tournament, The Bank of the West Classic Stanford California is proceeding well and fast. Players are showing their best and trying hard to get over one another. In the most recent matches of the tournament on Thursday the Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka and Marion Bartoli of France made their way pretty convincingly to the quarter finals of the tournament. On the other hand, Israel’s tennis ace Shahar Peer faced the sign of bad luck.
Currently the fourth seeded for the tournament Marion Bartoli showed her class and elegance by beating the former world number one Serbian tennis star Anna Ivanovic by 6-3, 6-4. This match proved her strong entity in the Bank of the West Classic tournament pretty vividly. After beating the former world number 1 player, she is feeling a lot more confident and thirsty to grab the trophy. The victory was special for her because it was against a strong tennis veteran of today and it was Bartoli’s eight repeated win. Bartoli has won ten matches out of thirteen matches this year, which is a very solid proof of her amazing form.
After the match, she expressed her views in a very happy mood and said it was a great win and her current world ranking gave her the required confidence. Playing against Anna is not at all easy, as she is one of the best players in the world. Later she added that it was a very good match and it will help her to gain self-belief and will give her a psychological boost for the upcoming U.S Open Grand Slam being held in New York next month. Bartoli’s win was her first win against Anna Ivanovic. No doubt, it is news to cherish for her as her hard work and determination finally brought her a wonderful win against a stronger rival. On the other hand, Ivanovic is facing some hard times as she has been able to win just 3 matches out of her last played nine matches.
Former world number one tennis ace, Maria Sharapova, showed her strength and class over the court pretty well by beating Ogla Govortsova by 6-3, 6-3 in a two sets match. Victoria Azarenka was also one of the successors of the day. Azarenka thrashed the American tennis player Melanie Odin by 6-3, 6-1. While on the other hand Russian tennis star proved her strong hold over the game by beating Israel’s Shahar Peer quite convincingly by 6-4, 6-3.
Sharapova seemed pretty pleased with her effort and said that she enjoyed her game and it is a good time for her to gain confidence. At the other side, the young tennis star Maria Yuryevna Kirilenko showed her strong will power by making her way through to the quarter finals of the tournament. She expressed her thoughts confidently and said that it was a very good experience and she can perform much better and on higher levels. Kirilenko will face Agnieszka Radwanska in the quarter finals and it seems that she is well ready and eager for that. Azarenka was also one of the few who made her strong placement for the quarter final stages. She was happy with her performance and expressed her feelings by saying that she enjoyed her match, though it was not an easy match at all for her but she fought well and got clutched the victory. She added that this match will help her to polish her skills as every match is important to her.
The tournament has entered into its quarter final stage and it is going to be much more exciting. The winner of the tournament will show her strong entity for the upcoming Grand Slam.
