Tennis Update: Two-time Davis Cup champion, Jim Courier named as the new captain of US team for the Davis Cup
The former world number one American ace tennis star Jim Courier has been named as the new skipper of the United States team for the Davis Cup.
Before Courier, Patrick McEnroe used to captain the United States team. The Davis cup is considered as a very prestigious cup in the tennis world. The Davis Cup team represents its country and individuals play for the national flag. Managing and captaining
the United States tennis team in the Davis Cup is no doubt going to be not less than an honour for Jim.
In a very recent interview, the forty years old and four times Grand Slam champ Jim Courier expressed his views and thoughts after being named as the new skipper for the US team. Jim said that being a captain is no doubt an enjoyable feeling but it is a
very big duty for him as well. He said that he will see if he is really going to enjoy as being the captain of the US team or not, only the time will tell.
The selection of Jim for the captainship of the US team is no doubt very good news for his fans and followers as his game and efforts in the world of tennis cannot be ignored. It is also to be notified that as a player Jim has won two French Open Grand Slams
and two Australian Open Grand Slams in his remarkably awesome career.
Courier has also worked as a tennis commentator and his new job has given him a new boost to stay with the world of tennis in a match practical way. Jim has secured the top rank of tennis for almost fifty eight weeks and got retired from the professional
tennis scene in the year 2000.
Before Jim, Patrick McEnroe was serving as the US captain for the Davis Cup. It is also to be noticed that McEnroe had served as the captain for almost ten years. He took retirement from his job after US Open Grand Slam by saying that he has to give time
