Tennis aces reach quarterfinal stages of Cincinnati Masters Cup
The Cincinnati Masters Cup in Ohio has entered into its quarterfinal stages. Now the aces of the tennis world will fight even harder to show their best in the hot and humid conditions of Cincinnati.
In the recent matches of the event. Scottish tennis star, Andy Murray, kept on impressing the audience with his remarkable efforts. He thrashed his veteran rival from Latvia, Ernests Gulbis in the third round match of the tournament and conveyed a strong message to the rest that he is one of the best around. Andy’s victory over Gulbis is very special to him as the Latvian is not an easy opponent at all. The match between Murray and Gulbis was a tough match for both of the tennis stars as both are completely aware of their positive and negative aspects of the game.
The match was truly a stamina jolting display by the rivals as they gave their best. In the end Murray proved that he is still better. The Scot clutched the victory by 4-6 6-3 7-6 (7-4) after a fistful fight. Gulbis tried hard and dominated the court by breaking Murray’s serve twice and grabbed the lead in the first set of the match. After that the World number four fought hard and played some amazing shots. After an amazing head to head fight, Murray secured the lead and won the match in a tie-break.
After winning the match against Ernests Gulbis the twenty-three year old Briton expressed his thoughts and said that the match was difficult for both of the opponents. Later he added that the environment was hot and he was facing difficulty to take control and keep his focus. While talking about his rival Gulbis, the number one British tennis player said that Gulbis is a great guy and he was feeling very comfortable while hitting the ball. Murray admired Gulbis and said that he played a splendid game, which is definitely a proof that he has improved a lot. Murray said that it was a great game of tennis as he gave his full and worked hard to grasp the success in the end.
The Briton will now face the American ace wildcard for the event, Mardy Fish in the next round of the tournament. While talking about his next match against Mardy Fish of America, he expressed his views that Mardy is a tough player to play against. Later the British veteran said that he will try his luck and will work on his game to get the best results. The hot and humid temperature in Cincinnati is definitely creating some problems for the players. Murray seemed to be struggling against the heat but managed to end in a successive way.
In the other matches of the tournament, the World’s top tennis star, Rafael Nadal, hammered his French opponent Julien Benneteau and made his way to the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Masters cup. Nadal fought hard and showed his splendid aggressive performance to grasp the victory 5-7 7-6 (8-6) 6-2. After winning the match, the Spaniard seemed confident and relaxed as it was a very tough game for him. While talking about the match Nadal told the media and said matches like these are a test and he is very happy that he is successful. Nadal added that this matched has raised the level of confidence and now he is looking forward to keep the winning streak alive. Nadal will now face Marcos Baghdatis in his next match.
On the other hand, the former World top player and living legend Roger Federer, made his way to the top eight stages of the tournament without even facing his rival Philipp Kohlschreiber. It is reported that the German tennis player, Kohlshreiber, was facing some problems with his shoulder and was compelled by the injury to withdraw from the match. Now the Swiss tennis champ will face Nikolay Davydenko in his next match.
