Tennis fitness??????

I'm trying to get in shape for tennis and im not terriblly out of shape. If someone could give me a good tennis workout i would appreciate it.

  1. Tennis really wears down on your muscles. You should come up with a work out regimen. lots of sprints. walk as little as possible because believe it or not that makes you slower. Jump roping is great. But again i want to emphasize working out with weights. don't let any one tell you it stunts your growth im 14 and i am 6"2  ive been working out since i was nine.

  3. I think a workout should complement what you use for the sport. You will have to have core exercises, for your lower back and abs, work out your legs, and for stamina sprinting is a good idea. But the best way to get into tennis shape or basketball shape is to play the sport.

  4. Do short sprints

    side skip

    jump rope

    lunges

    start at the net on one side and run forward on the farthest line out in the alley and run forward to the base line then side skip to the last line on the other side. Then run backwards to the net. When you get to the net side skip to the line you started at. If you want to change things you are doing(side skip or run) change on every line stopping at the service line. If the line runs up or down, run forwards or backwards. If the line runs side to side, side skip.

    If you have a basketful of tennis balls, instead of picking them up with the basket, lunge to each one. You might want to have someone holding the basket near you so you can put the balls in there when you have too many to hold.

    run laps around the court

    If you are not near the courts jump rope, running around the house, or short sprints would be good.
