Tennis icons and their lush wrist watches: Part One – Tennis Special
Players becoming celebrities and getting offers for brand endorsements is a natural phenomena. Sponsorship of expensive watches and player’s favourite brands is a world in itself. Everyone has their own comfort zone and similarly they like to wear, hold and carry those brands that go with their persona.
I have chosen the classiest players that have always been in the limelight for their breathtaking performances in the field of tennis. I will be discussing their personality and the luxury watches they wear on special occasions.
Novak Djokovic with Audemars Piguet
After his cracking marathon performance in the final of the Australian Open 2012, he definitely set new standards of tennis along with the Spanish number one, Rafael Nadal. Audemars are often related to the most successful men in the world and there is person who has succeeded everything, a normal man can only dream off. Djokovic endorses Audemars since his first Wimbledon title last year.
Audemars are not famous to launch the signature watches of their endorsed celebrities. So, there is a trivial chance of Djokovic’s signature watches to be launched in foreseeable future. The relationship between the company and player started when the co-owner of the Audemars’, Pierre Bottinelli, sent a helicopter for the Serb and his gorgeous girlfriend, Jelena Ristic, to have a visit at the luxury workshop that was coupled with a friendly parting gift. The present was none other than ultra-exclusive Royal Oak Carbon Concept Tourbillion which is worth $200,000. That is some reception!
Rafael Nadal with Richard Mille
Rafael Nadal is enjoying his time away from the courts; recently had a Sports Illustrated athlete-model photo shoot with the gorgeous blonde model, Bar Refaeli. Apart from these gestures, the Spaniard is found wearing a classic watch at all his tournament matches. It’s none other than Richard Mille and their relationship is as long as the Olympics Gold Medal.
Both these parties joined hands in May 2010 and ever since Nadal is wearing that brand in all professional matches. The watch that Nadal wears is custom-made for him; RM027 is manufactured with carbon-composite, titanium and alloy lithium. It features a tourbillion and weighs only 20 grams so Nadal doesn’t feel any weight on his arms. The watch floats on the water and approximately costs around $500,000.
Roger Federer with Rolex
Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, has achieved everything in his life. No man can dream of what he has achieved from his tremendous, god-gifted tennis skills. He has won 16 Grand Slam titles and is still in the hunt for another one at least this year. Such is the class of the 30-years-old legend who is still going great.
Federer is the most elite ambassadors of Rolex and has been associated with the brand from the early 2000’s. For a slight period of time, the Swiss tennis ace was seen in the advertisements of the local Swiss maker, Maurice Lacroix but Rolex had him back in 2006. He wears the elite model; Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss. It’s a watch that can deflect electromagnetic radiations and green sapphire face used for the first time in manufacturing a watch that gave a distinctive green glow.
