Question:

Tennis in/out tracker?

usually I'm good at searching but I guess it's too early and I couldn't find a question that already existed so I'll post my own. Does anyone know how those trackers work that they use in professional tennis when they are not sure whether or not the ball went out or was a fault?

  1. Yeah. They have a number of cameras at different position around the tennis court, both at ground level and at higher levels, filming everything. Then all the data gets fed into one computer, which sorts through it and filters it and most importantly, PUTS THE INFO TOGETHER. Then, when it is put together, the computer can project a trajectory for the ball and usually get to within ( I think) five millimetres of the ball.

    Hope it helped
