Tennis latest; Janko Tipsarevic positive about Serbia’s maiden Davis Cup title
The Serbian tennis player Janko Tipsarevic is hoping to finish an injury plagued season on a high note by assisting his country pick up its maiden Davis Cup title with win over France.
The Belgrade born, who made his debut on the ATP World Tour back in 2002 is currently ranked number forty nine in the South African Airways ATP list. He has so far won a total of two Futures and nine competitions from the ATP Challenger Series. The right
hander also captured the Australian Open junior crown back in 2001.
The 26-year-old Janko, who is famous for his refined and highly skilled game, has always been a match player, who can play with a higher level of confidence on the court. However, despite of his immense sporting talent, Janko often wanders and the consistency
of his performance varies when he is pitted against a stronger opponent.
Just like Macbeth, William Shakespeare’s famous tragic play of a noble man attracted by witches,  who knows them for what they are, selects treason and evil and is completely aware he is on a wrong path, Janko battles emotional extremes on the court and
traipses insecurely along a tightrope.
“In my case, the emotions are either black or white,” said Tipsarevic, reclining on a sofa in a Basel hotel lobby. “It is one of the reasons why I have a black tattoo on my arm. I generally hate emotion on the court. You have players who drain strength from
emotions and take only the positive emotions in their performance to use them to win,” said Janko while talking to the media on Wednesday.
“I am a good Davis Cup player, because I do not fight my biggest enemy which is consistency. I still do not have an ATP World Tour title, but in Davis Cup when you play one or two rubbers per tie, consistency is not an issue. The beauty about Davis Cup is
that you can have good and bad days but another team member can help you win the tie. If you told me when we beat the United States back in March, that we would reach the Davis Cup final, I would not have believed you,” he further added.
Tipsarevic, who has an amazing season mark of 9-22 versus the top ten foes, admits that his heaviest defeats came in 2008 to Nikolay Daveydenko at the Sony Ericsson Open and to David Ferrer at the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters, however in general, he enjoys
playing at big stadiums versus the elite contenders on the tour and is looking forward to play well in the Davis Cup final against France, starting from 3rd December in Belgrade.
