Tennis latest: Mardy Fish not happy on Odesnik’s return on tour
The 29-year-old Mardy Fish from the United States of America has criticized tennis authorities for reducing the suspension given to his compatriot fellow Wayne Odesnik for smuggling controlled drugs.
Wayne was charged almost eight thousand US dollars by the International Tennis Federation for this offence apart from his ban from the ATP tour for two complete years.
However, with the recent news of lifting his ban by the ITF, the entire tennis community as well as fans are taken back without any question. Wayne’s suspension has been reduced following the new anti-doping program. According
to this program, any suspended player who works for the elimination of drugs in a notable manner will be given immunity for the latter half of his sentence.
Wayne, as a result, will be able to resume his professional life from December 29 after the International Tennis Federation conditionally cancelled his second season of ban due to his cooperation with anti-doping officials.
The ITF after announcing the decision also appreciated Wayne’s substantial assistance to its anti doping program.
World number sixteen Mardy, however, in his recent interview on Friday, explains the ITF’s decision as "a black eye for all of sport, not just tennis.”
"He is a good player on enhanced substances. Let's see if he can be a good player without them," said Fish.
Wayne, who shifted to the United States of America at young age, has dropped down from a career high 77 to completely off the ATP Tour's rankings.
