The tennis tournament of New York Grand Slam has entered into a very crucial and exciting stage and all the tennis aces are giving their best to hammer their opponents mercilessly. In a very recent match of the event, the Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer outclassed his rival in a very forceful way. Federer showed his class and remarkable technique by outclassing his German opponent.
In a major match of US Open in New York, the current world number two displayed his new and improved winning form by beating the world number 104 Andreas Beck very convincingly. The German tried hard to fight and give Federer some hard time but the Swiss seemed a bit tough for him as Federer thrashed him by 6-3 6-4 6-3 after a three-setter exciting battle.
In another interesting match at Flushing Meadows, the 11th seeded for the ongoing Grand Slam Maran Cilic faced a thrashing defeat from the Japanese qualifier Kei Nishikori. The match between Cilic and Nishikori was the longest match of the week. It was approximately a five hour battle between the two veteran rivals but in the end luck favoured the Japanese Kei Nishikori. Cilic tried his level best to clutch every possible chance of winning the match. The Australian Open finalist Cilic started the match really well but lost his control over the game and lost break point at the very crucial stage of the match. It was a very disappointing finish from Cilic, as he was not expecting this to happen at all. On the other hand, the day was not so lucky for the Russian ace Nikolay Davydenko, as he was not able to grasp the victory against Richard Gasquet.
U.S. Open is proving to be a bit too tough for the players, as the conditions this year are not so friendly. The hot and steamy weather makes the matches more stamina-wrenching and dreadful for the players. Some of the ace tennis stars like the Scottish Andy Murray and Serbian star world number three Novak Djokovic have always faced problems while playing in the hot and sunny conditions. This tournament is not less than a test for them. In the very recent match of Novak Djokovic; the Serbian seemed suffering while facing a strong challenge from the opponent Philipp Petzschner from Germany. The match between Djokovic and Petzschner was a very interesting match, as both the rivals showed their best to clutch the victory. The German gave a very strong challenge and made the Serbian ace suffer to grasp the success. In the end, it was the Serbian Djokovic who managed to settle the brawl in a victorious manner. The current world number three Djokovic won the three-setter stamina jolting battle by 7-5 6-3 7-6 (8-6). The match came out to be a very tough match for him as he was not expecting such a massive challenge from his German rival Philipp Petzschner. Later after the match, the Serb expressed his views about the match and told the media that it was a very good match for his career, and the tough conditions were not less than a test for him. He said that in the beginning of the battle he was finding it difficult to understand the right chemistry of his opponent’s game but he kept his head, and so far he is happy with the result. Djokovic said that the match against Petzschner has given him a very good boost for the upcoming matches and now he is ready to face tougher challenges as well. While expressing his thoughts about his physical fitness Djokovic told the media that it is very important for him to keep his physical fitness perfect, as the climatic conditions are hard and the significance of Grand Slam cannot be ignored.
In another exciting match of the U.S. Open Robin Soderling crushed his American rival Taylor Dent in a three-setter match by 6-2 6-2 6-4. It was a ninety two minute match in which Soderling used his experience to brush his opponent aside and proved to be a bit too difficult for Dent.
