OK, so yeah yeah yeah I know a Banana is a good-for-nothing fruit (thanks andy murray) . . . but what would be something you should eat during a match? I heard grapes have many electrolytes in them . . . ? right?

And what about a sports drink, what's a good one?

  1. you could eat a powerbar during a match but really don't like eating those. they taste nasty to me, but my friend loves them.

i'm not really sure about grapes...if they have electrolytes or not.

propel is a good drink. so is gatorade, but i heard that it makes you thirstier, so that's not good. i also like to drink powerade, but it has a lot of sugar, so i have to drink water afterwards. water is the best drink for me.

  2. Haha, well, I have seen Rafa eating bananas during matches but what you should really eat during matches is things with carbs because they will be burned anyway.

My new favorite drink during matches is G2 now. Water and Gatorade were great but G2 has helped me the most.

  3. During the match:

Drink water or a sports drink with combos of glucose, sucrose, and fructose (Gatorade, Powerade, etc) to replenish fluids (avoid solid fructose drinks and foods).

When you play, your body will use up carbs and sweat out sodium with some potassium.  You should eat small digestable foods with a high-glycemic index (crackers, plain bagel, raisins, jelly beans, etc) during the match.  Before and after you would eat foods with plenty of carbs.
