  1. try the wilson brand- frames are always light and have powerful strings

an hour a day is enough - if you practice for to long you will get bored

and if you want to get into tennis watch professional matches to get you into the spirit - nadal matches are always good!

  2. You can get many fine raquets under 150$ at your local sports store or tennis specialty store.

To start I suggest getting a raquet with an oversized head; this will be easier for you to use as you are, like you said, a beginner

Try out the raquets in the store, see which one feels most comfortable.

If the store has a demo program, I suggest you sign up if you plan on getting serious with tennis and not just casual. Demo programs allow you to test raquets before purchasing them.

I suggest the next thing you buy is some decent tennis shoes. A local tennis store or shoe retailer will have some available but again, the best variety will be at the tennis store. You don't want to injure your ankle or anything.

Headbands, wristbands are personal preference items. You only need them if you think they'll help.

Tennis clothes will help you keep cool as you play. They're made of different material that serves this purpose.

If you want to get better, I suggest you take tennis lessons early on so that you don't develop any bad habits that will lead to future injury. You can still play without them and play as you like but the chances of developing a bad groundstroke or backhand or any other habit increases. In tennis, bad habits could be hard to break and wrong mechanics could lead to injury.

Trauma in tennis can come in the form of ankle and feet injuries, or knee problems such as tears of the ligaments or miniscus. You can also injure your elbow and wrist. For example using too much wrist with a specific grip during a swing can hurt.

That said, tennis is a fabulous sport and don't let the thought of injury deter you! Hope this helps and all goes well!

  3. I would ask at your local sporting goods store.  Tell them you have a budget and ask what would be the best for a beginner with the amount of money you're willing to spend.  If the salesman seems like he's trying to sell you the most expensive one, go somewhere else.  Have fun playing tennis!

  4. Look for them when they are on discount or sale.  A raquet under $100 should be fine.
