Which racquet is better for a more aggressive intermediate player?

Wilson n4 OS

Wilson nTour nCode

Head Liquidmetal 4

AND also, when ordering one online, what am I supposed to do with head /grip size? There is like 1/8,1/4,1/2,3/8,5/8...What is all of that? As you can see, I'm pretty clueless about racquets.

  1. I would get a Babolat Pure Drive Team Try to find 1 with out cortex as they don't make them any more and would be good for you.

For the grip Size I have a 1/4 as overgrips and grips increase the size to 1/2+

    Cheers Brad

  2. Head Liquidmetal 4 will be best for ya.

small fractions have thinner grip diameter & higher one have larger diameters.

It depends on the size of your hands. Best is try all grips before buying one. Choose the one with greater holds on your hand. Just like in hand guns, too bulky, it will be hard to reach the trigger, too thin, not comfortable & easy to slip on your hands.

The grip must be at ease to handle & sure tight grip upon contact with the ball.

  3. i'd suggest you pick the Head Liquidmetal 4. try also stringing it with Head Synthetic Gut 18 at 55 lbs.

head size is the area of strung surface (expressed in squared inches). the bigger the headsize (called oversize, more than 110 sq in), the more power you'll have, but less control. the opposite is true: smaller headsize (mid-sized and midplus, less than 110 sq in) will give less power and better control.

the grip size is the size of the racquet handle. you will want to measure your grip size prior to buying. if you find your grip size is between two sizes (e.g. between size 2 and 3), go with the smallest. you can always add some overgrip layers over the grip to increase the grip size.

    hope it helps :)

  4. Being an agressive intermediate player too, I would go with the Head Liquidmetal 4, but you should look at Babolat too. They have really nice racquets, like the Pure Drive Roddick + and the AeroPro Drive (Nadal's racquet).

1/8, 1/4 and all that is the grip size. It is actually 4 and 1/8 inches, 4 and 1/4 inches etc. The larger the number is, the bigger the grip is. Online, you need to decide which grip size you want. It is better to go with a smaller grip, because you can always put an overgrip on it to increase the size.

Head size is the size of the head of the racquet, where the strings are. There are 3 basic head size classifications, Mid (small head), Midplus (medium head), and Oversize (large). Generally, the larger the head, the more power you get from the racquet, and the smaller it is, the more control the racquet has. For you, I would say a Midplus racquet, with a head size of about 100 sq. inches, would be good, like the racquets you short listed earlier.

You can research all this and more on www.tennis-warehouse.com and www.tennis.com.

    Hope I helped.

  5. grip size is how big the handle is. yea, u might wanna know that before ordering.... check the size on the very bottom of the handle on your current racquet. it should have some number to indicate the grip size. head size is the square inches of the racquet head(where the strings are).

    mid-small

    midplus-medium

    oversize-large
