  1. Racquet string types and tension are usually determined by the way you play. Typically, baseliners prefer lower tensions, for spin generation and longer racquet contact with the ball; while volleyers prefer higher tensions, for faster play and better direction control.

There are 3 main types of strings - synthetic, natural and mixed. Synthetic strings are made of a variety of polymers like kevlar, polyester etc. Natural (or Gut) is made from sheep's intestines. Mixed are a combination of both. Natural strings tend to have a very good 'feel' to it but they don't last as long as synthetic. They tend to stretch causing the tension to change. They are also more expensive and doesnt handle moisture well.

Another factor to strings are the guage (or diameter). They start from 15(thick) to 19 (thin). Thinner gauged strings have a better 'feel' to it but tends to break sooner than thicker ones.

String type and tension are a personalised choice. I recommend you start at 60 pounds and change the tension or string type as you go along.

I use an nCode as well and I prefer the baseline but my racquet is strung at 63 pounds.

  2. He is right. = )

  3. they are new strings u wait until one breaks and then get new ones. trust me im ranked num 3 in mississippi

  4. If a racket comes with strings already on them, that means those are the most basic strings. They expect you to replace them. If you get new strings, you will definitely notice an improvement in your game. You should definitely get a shock absorber- err.. vibrator thing. That will save your arm from injury.

Since you've been playing for four years, i recommend getting some strings that generate a lot of spin and generally low power. Go to your nearest sports place that offers stringing, they will have a string expert that can help you choose what is best for your playing style!
