Tennis star Laura Robson apologizes for calling her rivals 's***s'

Laura Robson, the tennis prodigy from Britain has apologized in a recent magazine interview for calling some of her fellow tennis players as s***s. The former girl of Wimbledon who is just 16 years old, made such ridiculous remarks in the July edition of the Vogue magazine. Robson surprisingly came out into the media apologising to all the junior tennis players that she had scandalized. According to her, it was a totally stupid comment made by her and she did it without even understanding its consequences.

Such comments from the young girl reflect the swathe of non-professionalism as well as immaturity that reside within her. Robson definitely needs to learn a lot of both off as well as on the court. Laura Robson is considered to be one of the few dazzling hopes for British tennis at the moment.  In her interview to Vogue, she discussed a number of junior women tennis players by saying that some of the girls don’t mind in going out with any guy who came out with an offer and thus are earning bad names for themselves through such cheap publicity. According to her, one should rather remain silent instead of accusing someone with uncalled for remarks.

Born on 21 January 1994 in Australia, the 16-year-old girl is a tennis player from Britain. In 2007, she made her debut with the International Tennis Federation Junior tournament. The young tennis player won her first Wimbledon Junior Girls Championship when she was just 14 years old. Robson made her way to the finals of the Australian Open twice in 2009 as well as in 2010. Laura, with her dominant strength is currently the second ranked junior British player.

Robson is likely to play for the senior draw at this summer's Wimbledon through a wild card entry. While confessing her mistake, Robson did clarify that her remarks were given a wrong interpretation by the media regarding the information she had given to Vogue about the rest of the players. According to the young tennis sensation, those comments were passed out in a different context and situation. However, media analysts suggest that whatever the context of the argument may have been, such comments should not be made at any case by any professional tennis player in the media.  A great sense of responsibility lies on the professional players in this regard.

The 16-year-old tennis player admitted that Robson ought to be very careful in the future while giving interviews to the media. A number of former tennis players from Britain have suggested that Robson should concentrate and use all her energy towards her game in order to prove her love and dedication to the sport. Such statements not only injure the persons own image in the national as well as international fraternity but it leaves a bad impression on the game of tennis itself.

However, by admitting her fault and apologizing for it, Laura Robson took the right step. It is a sensible decision on her part which reflects her responsibility towards the game of tennis. It is usually during such difficult situations that a player starts to grow. She has done a good piece of assessment by coming out positively in the end as it’s never too late.

Robson’s constructive decision was also supported by The Women's Tennis Association. Giving interview in front of the entire press for the first time ever at the age of 16 years is not that easy for sure. It was definitely difficult for her to discuss openly about her private life along with that of other tennis players.

With this move, the WTA is quite confident about Laura’s future in tennis. According to them, Robson has handled this situation quite intelligently after making a silly mistake earlier. It is expected that player has a bright future. Everyone at the moment is waiting for Laura Robson a thrilling entry into the world of serious tennis.
